- Under Pressure - my first public WAD [Now on Idgames]

Howdy all, I've been a long time lurker and mapper, but I've never actually released any of my doom maps to the public. I designed this map over the course of about 2 weeks, and used the UDMF format targeting Zdoom primarily, and it has been tested with Zdoom and GZdoom. It's a pretty standard techbase map. The map is built for Doom 2, and replaces MAP01 as such. The gameplay of the wad is intended to be strictly vanilla, no jumping or crouching, freelook is ok if you want.

Congratulations on publishing a map publicly for the first time! This is pretty damn good, fam. I really enjoy the layout and flow of progression along with the little bits of extra detailing and texture work. Combat starts off a little humdrum but then gets a lot more interesting later, so it ramps up fairly nicely. Aside from that one secret I found near-impossible to find legitimately, I have no quibbles or complaints. It's a solid effort and I hope to see more from you.

This is a very good first map, in fact this would be considered a good map even if it was not your first.

 

I like how you used a rather small set of texture, this is the type of design that really help giving you map a distinctive felling.

Really fun! Great choice for your first map to release. Though simple, this map shows you've refined your style over some amount of time/other maps. Progression feels very competent in that it doesn't just hand over the victory, but it's also not convoluted or tedious to play

Thanks for playing the map. The secret that you commented on works very similarly to the rocket launcher secret in e1m3.

Ah, so there's a linedef somewhere I needed to step on for the bit under the door to lower, eh? Damn, I didn't notice it lowering or hear it lowering at any point when I was running around that area. Cheeky.

I've fixed some bugs that I noticed in the videos you guys so kindly posted. This includes adding textures to the lift on the bridge with the green armor, as I managed to overlook texturing the sides of it. I also slightly altered one of the secrets, so it should actually be possible to get it without knowing the solution beforehand.

Anyways, incredible map. Damm it has rythm. I lost track two times, but tried harder because I was having such a good time. 
The cyberdemon arena was cute.
