Yeah, I think it adds an other-worldly dimension to it, which is cool. I like to think that it's like a library with knowledge from all around and outside the universe; and it's all out of our reach.

On topic: Added a new weapon to taod, the HMG (side note: the HMG was the oldest weapon in TAOD, dating WAAAY back to it's conceptualisation phase as the 120 calibre M60!)

Yep had absolutely missed that mod since I don't frequent DW so only after Breakpoint, Paradise and Ar Luminae that I played this year I fell in love with it and wanted to make my own map for that so yeah, it will be a supercharged map.

Both! I exported the primitive shape as an obj, gussied it up in Blender, then dropped it over the primitive it was exported from - collisions intact. Doors are poly-objects, impassable lines for rails, and invisible bridges for the seats.

Apart from that, did you use normal and specular maps to do that effect on the train? it looks nice. Can't imagine the file size though...

Updates!

I told you on January 12 about Thrust, the unreleased TC from the 90s by Darkfang. I showed you some cropped screenshots of the menu.

The other holy grail on my list is Doom Millennium. Whilst i have been asking around (And i am not going to release this when all is in the clear!), how about some screenshots?

 

This time around, i am posting native DOS screendumps. That means 320x200, no holds barred. So you can see what it was like back in the 90s. Ill post some details regarding these two. I am showing more of Thrust than of Millennium, because the latter is still in development limbo and the former isn't.

 

Thrust:

  • During this playthrough and finishing the level, another level was revealed. This was initially not known to me, so colour my surprise!
  • Screenshots show both levels and a custom enemy, a robot.
  • I have since also accquired the resources wad.
  • The Thrust Engine has some remarkable effects for a 1998 custom engine based on Linuxdoom 1.10:
    • Different shades of colour
    • Fog effects
    • Rain effects
    • Per-sector based colored lighting (No COLORMAP lump is used)
    • Breakable windows
    • Particle system
    • Smooth weapon animations (Especially compared to Doom's)

Doom Millennium:

  • Screenshots are taken from MILTEST3.EXE. This is a September 9, 2001 build with a April 14, 2002 compile date. It is the last MBF-derived build of Millennium and its also the most stable.
  • On display is a railgun like weapon. There are a few others which i am not showing, though they have interesting properties, like constant burn effects. I am also showing one of the new enemies, a constant self-teleporting pinky with a red skin colour. This enemy is incredibly annoying because it teleports behind you.
  • All assets do not represent whatever current status Doom Millennium has at the moment.
  • The custom MBF-based engine showcases a custom particle system.
