Monster Spawn on Weapon Pickup?

Hello Doom community. I am currently making a map just for fun and I wanted to try my hand at configuring a monster spawn when a weapon is picked up. I am using Ultimate Doom Builder and I am still very very new to mapmaking. Thank you.image.png.ae7b7fb703d4c7bcde20a5b94939f8f7.png

You have a couple options, you can either make a monster closet that opens when the player walks over a trigger line nearby the weapon or make a monster teleport closet activated the same way with a little bit more work. There are a couple tutorials over on youtube for these, I recommend Chubzdoomer's monster ambushes tutorial for a start.

Put a map spot where you want the monster to spawn, and give it a tag.

Go to your weapon, and give it an action special to spawn the monster where the map spot is:

Thing_spawn

Or

Thing_spawnnofog

I am not at my computer right now, but it's not hard.

If you're new to mapmaking, you may as well start with the basics. It's helpful to understand how to do basic things before using more advance techniques. You probably want to use a monster-teleporter closet in an isolated sector, and tag the line around the weapon to remove a blocker on the teleporter, allowing the monster to cross the line and teleport into the room.
