Great mapset!

There are many unusual takes on map and combat design here and even though it gives an impression of something relaxed,

it's actually quite punchy and has enough challenge for those who like hard fights!

Had a really hard time with the beginning of this one, but once I got a foothold into it I... continued to have a hard time :p

Great map, @LVENdead! Really strange almost dreamlike progression

For some reason I never got notified of the tag. Glad you liked this map! The "Doesn't Represent Me" aspect of it was kind of like how you start in this false world and then the walls come down and you realize the reality is kind of broken or blending together. I guess I was just kind of leaning into this whole "What you see is not what you get" type of vibe.

@thelamp thank you so very much for providing videos of all these maps! This is fantastic!

As soon as timing works out I'll be continuing my own video series as well 🤠

Awesome set! This really grew on me as I played through it, and now that I've completed it I'm really happy I did. There are some really interesting concepts played with throughout this set without getting too avant-garde or difficult. Playthroughs (part one and two) below. Awesome job to everyone who mapped for this; Can't wait to run some of these maps!

Haven't played it myself yet, but watched a lot of streams. Looks really good!

@HALFCOOL What's the story behind your Underdog, Overdog map? I find it very interesting. The dog heaven looks really good and somehow gives me a mournful vibe. But that's a good thing, if a Doom map can stir up some emotions in me.

Anyways, great job guys!

Hello, just finnished this, had a pleasant time throughout with it. Loved the chickens of course, thought I'd feel bad for killing them but anything that likes to get in the way has to be deleted, so no remorse! Sad that map 23 was unplayable on my end and had to skip, thanks for the option at least heh.

Few observations, bugs/questions:

Spoiler

Map 06

- Minor misalignments spotted by pure chance, this is in the library.

- Not sure what was going on with these chaingunners, I heard shots coming from that area and then found them like this. You can kill them for sure, it's them who can't do much.

Map 10

- Pinky 503 is stuck in the rocks.

Map 12

- Map starts with the MM2 midi for about two seconds and then swaps to the other heaven-like music. Is that intentional?

Map 15

- The secret exit didn't unlock for me. The bars should have theoretically opened after all chickens were dead, but something might have broken. To make sure I wasn't missing a chicken, I explored the entire map twice and never seen or heard a chicken alive, so they all had to be dead. It occurs to me that a possibility was that the last chicken alive got crushed in the final area and the keendie trigger didn't function - this can happen with fast crushers (see Bugs). I think for that not to happen players will have to make sure the chicken on the rush and the other in the exit room both die from shots. It might be worth adding a warning in the text file about this... up to you.

Map 23

- The farthest I got, before skipping, was to a secret underwater that used friction to mess up with movement, so basically to "invert" your keys, so if I pressed strafe left it'd strafe right instead. Is that how it's supposed to work? I don't know much about friction specials in boom (frankly not a fan of this in particular, I've seen it maybe two times in the past, thankfully, and never liked it lol)

Thanks for sharing and thanks for the pleasant vibes!

Sorry you got stuck! Could you give me some details on where that happened, as well as what port and settings you were using?

The friction is indeed intended to reverse your controls. Some people like it and some don't, so hopefully that secret is short enough to not overstay its welcome.

Oh it just lagged horrendously from the get go for me, not a problem of the map but mine, don't worry. I use the latest dsda in opengl for the smoothest performance possible and occasionally with maps very heavy on content it's inevitable that I skip frames like crazy, because my laptop is outdated.

The most lag was while facing to the north, so anytime going up the stone stairs. Underwater was smooth. I don't know about latter parts of the map unfortunately.

Hello,

we're going to play the first half of the maps for Thursday Night Survival today.
The session starts 8 hours from the time of this reply and you can expect it to be fairly active for 4+ hours.

Not sure how much you care about coop compatibility but we're going to use an extensive coopfix by boom_compatible and the fixed issues could be reported here if you want.

Thank you so much it's an honour to have been selected for this! We encouraged our mappers to install player starts and stuff and we're hoping there's no soft locks in terms of multiplayer scenarios but do let us know!

Hope you guys have fun and I'll be keeping an eye out on it 😄
