So for my 16th birthday I am getting a sc-55 markii, now reason I am is to add sc 55 sound samples to my tracks and to increase the gear on my recording studio, now I only saw 1 video on this, but can you hook up a midi keyboard up to a sc-55 and play the sounds through it?

yes you can connect every keyboard/synth with midi in/out with the midi out/in from the sc55 and play with the sc55 sounds. Bobby Prince used a Ensoniq EPS as midi controller back in the day.

A lot of midi keyboards now, especially entry level ones, are MIDI through USB, if you are using legacy equipment you will need either a midi controller with a 5 pin midi out or a MIDI host box.

This is in fact how a lot of keyboard players of the era used the SC-55 in live performances. I've even used mine in a pinch with a generic old MIDI keyboard I had when my digital Hammond organ was in the shop. Again, make sure your keyboard has a MIDI out port or you have a USB-MIDI converter, but you should be good to go!

Most expensive purchase I ever made that I don't use nearly enough! Gotta love the sound of a B3 even in digital form though.

Please remember, if you want to connect the SoundCanvas to your computer/DAW/whatever you'll need an MIDI-Interface. The old RS-232-computer connector on SC's back isn't supported on modern operating systems ...
And DON'T buy one of the cheap china USB-A-to-2x-DIN interface cables; they tend to fail too often.
