Stacey Dooley documentary opinions?

Have heard her being compared to Louis Theroux.  But she seems quite the opposite, she often antagonizes subjects with opposing views to her and ends up with basically nothing useful from them.  Then there's the obligatory multiple bouts of crying each episode, and being very tactile (Always touching the interviewee on the arm etc) - though this does give her a realistic and endearing relationship to some of the subjects.  Her accent makes me want to put a q-tip in my ear too far though.

Louis Theroux is better, however, I think she provides an important perspective and raises awareness of certain issues best not discussed on doomworld I think.

There used to be a "Careers" lesson at my school and they just put on those documentaries and went off to do whatever.

Why would they ask anyone other than the guy who started the thread? Why is @LadyMistDragon supposed to do all the explaining?

 

Context is pretty important if you're actually looking to have a discussion.

If you're looking for feedback you might want to explain what you're talking about. At the very least you should provide something tantalizing about the subject, or at least engaging. And the words "antagonizing" and "crying" don't really make me want to find out more about the subject. 

 

If you're positing a question, it's not my job to google what you're talking about. I shouldn't have to do research to figure out what you're talking about. Maybe a few links to articles about the relevant people, maybe a few videos.

If i am going to start a story about my childhood heroes Bassie & Adriaan, everyone outside of the NL on DW would say the same thing.

You really ought to give context to who Stacy Dooley is if you want to reel people into a discussion. Else it will transpire as forum clutter.

 

This kind of feedback isn't unknown to you and it pains me that even with years passed by you still retreat to making the exact same basic thread making mistakes.

 

If you don't want to learn from your errors or improve yourself in that regard, then why should anyone even bother with your topics to begin with?

Kneejerk reaction to people having told me to just google when I've already done so and turned up nothing.  It's not always easy to figure out what search terms will bring up results for what I'm told to "Just google".  I've never had pushback before on any off-topic subforums.  Everyone elses' "Everything else" is all well and good, but mine is too off-topic... in a forum for exactly that sort of thing?

Googling her literal name brings me to her Wikipedia page. Its like, the first hit.

 

Your search turns up nothing? Surejan.

If nobody knows who the hell you are talking about, it helps to, you know... provide context.

 

For Stacey Dooley its a completely no-brainer but somehow you are left with nothing when you search Stacey Dooley on Google.

Huh?  We're talking about completely different things.  People tell me "Just google it" about things when I already have.  Why would you say I'm not searching for something when I'm bringing that something up as a topic?  Have you read the OP?  I literally demonstrated that I have knowledge on the subject, right there.  Your entire post is completely irrelevant to what I'm talking about, I can't understand how you ended up needing to say what you said.

Let me make this clear for you, this post is too off-topic because no-one knows who the hell you're talking about, and you didn't even try to give a least some bit of context.

At the end of the day, someone who hasn't heard of them isn't going to have an opinion and a wikipedia link isn't going to be enough to give an opinion because of npov.  Youtube links might work, but then you can be banned for supposedly spamming/promoting a channel.

I've had a ban for spamming before.  The link was given in the first post and I guess I just didn't write enough about the subject to make it not spam.  I'd ask whoever did the ban but it just says a moderator did it.
