After doing a bit more playtesting and balance testing and receiving some additional feedback, I made a few changes to MAP20:

  • Replaced an arachnotron that would semi-consistently get stuck.
  • Made a few items in the lower level easier to grab.
  • Added a rocket launcher to the upper room to slightly reduce the reliance on the SSG.
  • Provided additional cover (with damaging floor—can't make things too easy ;)) from the arch-viles in the final room to reduce the reliance on decent RNG, especially if the player didn't find the BFG.

I did, that deadline was a month ago (with the exception of a few maps that had been grabbed very close to the deadline). My return home is getting delayed by about a week more so I can't put my full focus into the project right now, but here's what I have to say:

@RubyAurora - MAP13

@Anarkzie - MAP26

@mr-around - MAP30

 

Please finish your maps in the following week, or else I am going to have to give your slots away. If you can't finish in that time, let me know soon so that I can find new mappers. Please don't delay your response, I'd like to wrap up the project and publish it in August. Let's make August 6th the final deadline.

 

FYI, you can also team up with someone to work on a map, you will both be credited and it may speed up the progress.

I've found myself caught up in a personal project in the last week or so and I've started dedicating too much time into it that I'd like to drop this slot. I can give my ChatGPT prompts (or even the map I have so far) to whoever would like to take the slot.

I'll take it i need something to do and i should be able to get it done by tomorrow with or without the map.

So would you like either the prompt or the map? Also, I know the new deadline isn't very far but one day for a map doesn't sound very promising. Still though, if you want the slot you can have it.

@mr-around I won't forbid a 3-mapper collab, I just think it might get messy, but if you think you can do it, go ahead.

 

I don't remember setting a "max. two contributors" rule and I can't see one on the main thread either so if I did at any point state that, I can change the rule since it doesn't matter in the end.

MAP05 done.
Hard one to do really, i guess sewer levels ain't my thing, but eh the final product should feel fitting of the 5th slot.

Also really hate how it lists every weapon and includes it, forced my hand in making it moderately harder for better or for worse.

Any issues let me know so i can fix em up
and of course huge thanks to @spineapple tea for letting me take this one.

Couple I found:

The imp closest to the player on the walkway is awkwardly stuck until you attack him.

The exit sign has the wrong texture on the lower half.

Other than those, I wasn't a fan of how the walkway section seemingly had no way to come back up if you fell (which is very annoying when there's also a pain elemental in the same room) and the exit room was inescapable which means you can't backtrack at all.

Fixed and changed all those mentioned, link updated to v2.

I think you could have maybe made it harder, especially the ending.

You can also get softlocked in one of the lifts in the starting room.

just interact with the wall, it's tagged to lower all lifts.

Try it yourself.

It's that way so once the 'ambush' elevator is fully raised and if you are on it you can interact with that wall and it lowers. preventing the player from getting stuck on the inside.

It's a non-issue, you cannot access this 'ambush' elevator from the outside without crossing the specified linedef or activating one of the elevators in that corridor.

I can make it so all walls surrounding this elevator lowers it or change the texture to make it more obvious.

Sorry for being very late. I kept getting unsatisfied with the prompts/maps and remaking them over and over. If I don't finish by today I think I'll just submit this map and the prompts anyways and maybe someone else can finish it.

I have to start compiling the beta wad, unfinished submissions will have to leave gaps in unfortunately, which will make single-segment testing impossible. Please hurry up if you haven't finished your map yet!

 

I will try to get the wad done tomorrow, so if you want to be a beta tester, hit me up now!

Unfortunately, @Korni27 and @Raith138 who agreed to colab, couldn't work to help me with my map in time (due to the level's complexness), which means the MAP30 will be passed to someone else to make it from scratch
