Laz Rojas work it's the main reason why my Brutal Wolfenstein project ever took foot to begin with. I won't allow him to rot because of a garbage """"justice"""" system's mistakes.

I never knew Laz Rojas as I was never involved with the MacDoom or Wolfenstein community and probably wasn't even alive yet at the time, but still can't hope but feel devasted at what he had to go through. It was horrible and is something I wouldn't wish on anyone but my worst enemy and the worst behaved and intentioned examples of those of us alive today - those such as the people responcible for what happend to Laz. I truly hope they get sued to oblivion and rot in hell for what they did to him...

I don't normally post here, but I will in this case.

 

This is fucked up, depressing, and infuriating. Nobody deserves to go through such extreme, hellish injustice inflicted upon them by the so-called "justice" system. (What an oxymoronic cock-suck that title is.)

 

My heart goes out to Laz. Way back in 2003, when I was 12/13 years old, my stepbrother and I used to play WolfenDoom wads in Doom Legacy splitscreen, and would always have a blast. Astrostein and Operation: Arctic Wolf were favourites. It's been well over a decade since we last been in contact, but those mods remind me of him.

 

I really hope he's able to get back on his feet, and hopefully there will be some serious punishment for the people responsible for this goddamn mess. Also, I really hope somehow, that some of the stuff he lost can somehow be tracked down again, if it wasn't destroyed. Honestly, if I had lost my entire life's work at this point, especially after all that trauma and hardship, I would have just given up on the spot and shot myself, so kudos to Laz for persevering.

 

Fuck, man... Hurts to see good people suffer like this.

I hope he can recoup as much of what's been stolen from him as justice will allow, especially after it so thoroughly destroyed his life for no reason I can fathom. It's an absolutely heart-wrenching thing to hear about, let alone experience. To spend so many years caring for your sick mother while enduring hardships that would have been difficult to endure in isolation, only to be rewarded by having your freedom, your life's work, your health, everything to your name taken away by a combination of negligence and contempt...it's nauseating.

 

It's heartening, at least, that he has good folks like all y'all to give him a leg up through this outrage, and even if he can never get back everything he lost (and I hope, somehow, he can recover some of it), I hope he can at least get some restitution and an opportunity to finally rebuild after so many years of this shit. I'm not familiar with Laz's work but the more I dig into his apparently-restless creative muse the more simultaneously inspired and saddened I am. Nobody deserves this except maybe the people who did it to him.

Holy shit, I never played wolfendoom before and never heard of Laz being a bit new to this scene and mostly lurking, but as someone who lives in the same county who also recently lost a parent, I would've lost all hope if something like this happened to me.

 

Laz has incredible will power and strength to see this through, I wish him well and if possible, I hope he sues the shit out of the police department for this. 

At the time of writing this comment I gotta scramble and get ready for work, but when I'm off I'll for sure give something.

 

I hope all the people involved in wrongly accusing Laz all lose their badges. This is seriously the most ridiculous situation I've ever heard come out of a police department in ages. Fuck the police.

Here's the funny thing: the district attorney of LA County, George Gascon, is an advocate for criminal justice reform. It's unlikely he was personally involved with this case or even made aware of the details. He's got a record of reassigning and demoting prosecutors for this kind of thing and has angered the police union enough for cracking down on them that they've tried to get him recalled numerous times.

 

I wonder how George Gascon would feel if he were to be made aware of the sheer breadth of this situation, and if some people might lose their jobs if enough people raised a stink about it.

I think I like this guy. As I said in my initial post, people make mistakes. But you own up and put it right if you're not a piece of shit. To ride the mistake for 10 months, destroy a man's life, and then try to get him to cop a plea to cover up for your shitty handling of the situation is unforgiveable. That's not a mistake. That's intentional and willful malpractice. Anybody complicit in what happened to Laz is not fit for the job they hold and should be summarily sacked, and the county sued. This kind of behaviour has devastating ripple effects beyond the single case. People hear about it, and their trust in the system gets destroyed.

But this is a reused older fund, i am not sure if it has the older sum just in it.

When i was there yesterday it was on 6k.

Would be interesting to know if it started on zero or a higher sum.

If it startet with 4K for Example, other People could be thinking that he reached more as needed, but in truth it wasn't as much.

It is possible to calculate it because every donation is listed alongside the time of it, but I remember it being slightly over 2k when it started, which means the vast majority of the money is in fact from the past few days. People have been truly wonderful about this! It's not the ultimate solution to all of his problems or anything but it should at least help secure his immediate food and shelter situation. I hope he will see the results soon enough.
