Nathan Silver Posted February 11, 2023 (edited) While working on Everdoom, I had a thought: what if Doom 64's levels were recreated from memory. I kept thinking about this idea even months after playing Doom 2: The Way We Remember it, but then months later (which is now as of this post), it got real. Introducing, the brand new spiritual successor community map project: DOOM 64: THE WAY WE REMEMBER IT. For those who live under a rock, the goal of this project is very simple: recreate all levels from the original Nintendo 64 title (as well including the Lost Levels episode from the 2020 re-release) from memory, also including fun levels and the title screen. Some additional features might make the final cut, which will include sprites from the leaked Alpha. But we are not done yet! Here's screenshots from the MAP01 recreated from memory (and comparing to the original map side by side)! The project will hold contribution from the Doom 64 Discord community as it was teased days before public statement. This mapset will be fully compatible with EX+ and the Doom 64 remastered re-release, it will not be played in other source ports (including ZDoom related ports). Midway64 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) I'm really interested, I like Doom 64 a lot, so I might chip in a map (aside from the other community project I'm working on), probably MAP33 (Title) as it is the one I most remember, cheers!
