forgettable pyromaniac Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) Spoiler This trailer is sort of old - I lost the files to it, but I do have a finished product. I was going to remake it, but I got lazy (and I have a killer headache atm). Story : (Original Story Idea by Sr_Ludicolo) It's been a while after the DOOM Episode, and Doomguy can finally sit at peace at home with his pet rabbit Daisy, and veg out for a bit while looking for a new job since the UAC had since been dissolved, and earth has gone back to normal. Maybe working at a regular job for once could finally be the change of pace he needs. As Doomguy watches tv during his break, he feels... Off. Like what had happened wasn't over yet... ... And he was right. Later that day, he went to feed Daisy, but her eyes looked, well, soulless. It was because they had taken it! In the middle of the kerfuffle between Doomguy and the demons, they had eventually realized that they would lose. But to give Doomguy that one extra "screw you", they had taken Daisy's soul into the past, and are now using it to power a new demon-spitter! Doomguy has put two and two together, needing to jump between places and times to see where they had that newly constructed demon portal, before they rip a hole in the space-time-continuum! Of course, since space time hasn't yet been completely screwed, that means they're somewhere he's never been, which is good for him. He makes his way to the decrepid UAC space base, where the work-in-progress time machine was being built. Sadly, because of the way it was currently set up, it takes a LOT of power, so for each search attempt for Daisy's soul, Doomguy is going to need a new battery... ... But it's worth it. Time to take the time machine for a spin. =========================================================================== Maplist (Original titles) (In game, they're cruddily translated to Latin if they hadn't already): Map01 - forgettablePyromaniac - "Forever Noir" Map02 - Sr_Ludicolo - "Runoff" Map03 - Gibbon - "Insolutam" Map04 - King Know-Nothing - "Offerre Abiit Malus" Map05 - noob_killer012345678 - "Prison Complex" Map06 - cannonball - "Secluded Spring" Map07 - forgettablePyromaniac - "Spelunca Circulus" Map08 - Puncher_Sponge - "Thrasher" Map09 - Puncher_Sponge - "Excellent Adventure" Map10 - NeedHealth - "Acqua Alta" Map11 - Blexor - "Neolithic Isle" Map12 - Endless - "Night Raid" Map13 - A2Rob - "Grisly Ghettos" Map14 - forgettablePyromaniac - "(De) Segmentum Low Sugit" Map15 - Sr_Ludicolo - "Mountain Dew Sanctuary " Map16 - Yumheart - "Steam Up" Map17 - forgettablePyromaniac - "Alta Caerulea Ignis Saxa" Map18 - forgettablePyromaniac - "Vasta Silva" Map19 - forgettablePyromaniac - "Arce Lignea" Map20 - forgettablePyromaniac - "Intimis Antris" (lol 4 in a row) Map21 - Yumheart - "Ghurub Alshams Aldamawii" Map22 - finnks13 - "That Sinking Feeling" Map23 - Thelokk - "Ederlezi" Map24 - Savarin - "Guidance" Map25 - Luleta - "Murder Mansion" Map26 - King Know-Nothing - "Tralfamadorians" Map27 - noob_killer + fP - "Level 1" Map28 - sincity2100 - "Corrupted Grudge" Map29 - Sr_Ludicolo - "Tanning Rack" Map30 - [Various] - "Terra Cruenta Illo Tempore Oblitus" / "Morior Invictus" Map31 - Blexor - "The Far Edge of Time" Map32 - forgettablePyromaniac - "Feliciter Oblige" Map33 - forgettablePyromaniac - "Anorexic Martians & Co." MI-EXTRA has a few limit-removing levels, so use a limit-removing source-port for these. (They all worked on Crispy Doom, but I didn't extensively test them). All other levels are vanilla-compatible, and will work in the original DOS executable after patching with DEHACKED.DEH. If you find any crashes due to visplanes or otherwise, please let us know. King Know-Nothing Posted February 12, 2023 Glad to see this reach it's release! Nervous and excited to have my first two complete maps on display! If I could ask for one thing. A map list on this post for ease since the trailer does scroll through the names relatively fast, but regardless. Glad to see it out! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Bri0che Posted February 13, 2023 I'm at MAP05 right now and my pref is MAP04 so far, combats are interesting without being difficult. Monsters placements are simple in the paper but I find them to work very well. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
thelamp Posted February 13, 2023 More cool stuff in map03 & map04! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Bri0che Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) I forgot to tell but obviously... Congrat for the release ! NeedHealth Posted February 13, 2023 Congrats on the release. @forgettable pyromaniac If you remember - please @ before you upload this megawad to id games. There is a small edit i would like to make in my map. I'll give you a hint, dyslexia.;-) 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
MFG38 Posted February 13, 2023 I've been looking forward to this one. Will make sure to stream a playthrough ASAP. c: Also, quick note to whoever happens to see this: the two original MIDIs I composed for this have been released on my website and are free to use for your own projects. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

Keyboard_Doomer Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) The wad looks pretty good but there seems to be a lot of unfixed issues so it would be good to get more playtesting for all maps and iron those out before the idgames release. From playing just the first 6 maps: MAP02: - a mancubus (thing 60) never teleports in because it has the deaf flag and the teleporting linedef (line 1350) in its closet is too close to the wall so it couldn't teleport in even if it did wake up MAP03: - a shotgunner (thing 211) is stuck in a wall - the red switch (line 609) in the secret doesn't do anything because there's no matching sector with tag 8 (and because of that pressing the switch also doesn't make a sound or animate) - from what I can tell the abovementioned secret also isn't really marked - there's the hard to notice misalignment on the right side of line 611 but there are similar ones on the right sides of the nearby lines 587 and 593 MAP04: - sectors 205, 212 and 222 end up higher than their neighboring floors after the tag 21 switches are pressed (it happens after only 2 switches for one of the floors) which is problematic because monsters can get stuck (pic1, pic2) on the edges of the sectors and also block other monsters from teleporting in - misalignments on line 1708 and line 1827 as well as a few more nitpicky misalignments in the same room after the walls lower - it's trivial to avoid the big trap after picking up the battery aka yellow key (thing 308) just by stepping off the slowly lowering sector - this may be fully intended but I think it's worth mentioning that 3 switches (lines 1490, 1498 and 1508) are in the "on" state (using SW2MET2 as the texture) as opposed to all the other switches in the map that are in the "off" state MAP05: - it's possible to get stuck in the secret with the soulsphere (sector 58) because it can't be opened from the inside - similar to MAP03, from what I can tell the berserk secret (sector 126) is unmarked (although, it can be seen on the automap, unlike the MAP03 secret) MAP06: - perhaps not strictly a bug but the secret with the soulsphere (sector 159) can become inaccessible because the switch (line 1414) to raise sector 103 again is S1 Edited February 13, 2023 by Keyboard_Doomer 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Obsidian Posted February 13, 2023 Had a quick look through and found a big ol' HOM on MAP30. Picture taken in ZDoom. Spoiler This is the arena where you fight all the Cacodemons and Pain Elementals, in case you're wondering. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

alopecia_assassin Posted February 13, 2023 Yoooooo, Pyro and crew. No constructive feedback here. Just wanted to say I played til map12 and had a blast. To the left and to the right of the secret, there are indented books. Between those the openable portion is. Yea i should make that secret more obvious- 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
