Xyzzу Posted February 15, 2023 Essentially, are you more likely to tablefill or beat one? You can assume either makes for a fun run or post whatever other reasoning you feel below. Would love to read your thoughts! This question really just popped into my mind on a moment's notice. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
taedev Posted February 15, 2023 I kind of answered this in a recent thread, but make a run that hasn't been done yet. I like figuring out the mechanics involved in solving an unsolved puzzle. There's also a blank spot in the table and I want something to be there. Not all the time, though. Some things makes me want to beat an existing run, like knowing that a run is beatable, or wanting to match my performance that I did in a TAS, or seeing a question mark run. I don't care how hard it is - I just want to beat that question mark. I'm not motivated as much by crowns since I'm never going to be someone who does dozens of high quality runs per week. The ones I do have are nice. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Andrea Rovenski Posted February 20, 2023 i fill the tables but when im actively doing a certain wad, ill jump into beating runs if they're convenient for me to do. Ex: I love D2ALLs, and I'd end up doing a lot of map demos for each category as part of "practice" instead of doing casual save/load stuff 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kinetic Posted February 21, 2023 I think I'm equally motivated to do both, but I would say I generally stick to table-fills, despite my recent demo history saying otherwise. I won't just fill any table or run though, if I am table-filling it will often be a max and more recently a tyson. I particularly find motivation in table-filling a) runs that are notorious in some way (standard motivation for wanting to complete "challenges")/seem odd that they have not been done before (scythe 2 map22 pacifist for example, and various scythe 2 tysons I've done, both of these runs have been there for taking for 17 years but alas they needed to be filled), or b) runs of a map that I believe deserve to have a demo for them, because the map is so good (event horizon comes to mind immediately). 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
4shockblast Posted February 22, 2023 From my part, hard to say. Difficult table fillers are some of the most rewarding runs I've done, but I often like improving some runs too. I try not to get too bogged down with competition these days, though, takes too much time to get proper good runs, heh. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
LOD42 Posted February 22, 2023 This is kind of exposing me ngl I feel like doing stuff that hasn't been done before mainly because of the pressure of the more populated Pwads ig 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
