Looking for cemetary and water related sprites/textures, random questions and a really long rambling about me and Doom editing

My newest map idea needs tombstones, graves and all kinds of cemetary related stuff. As much as I like doing gfx I'm not doing them all myself so where might I acquire such sprites and textures? What about water droplets/splashes? I'd like to try to use sprites to bring some life to otherwise vanilla waterfall (animated texture) and the sea (animated flat) it falls into. Also I'm sure there's several examples of using sprites to simulate rain, where might I find 'em?

I'm still pretty newbie even though I've really learned a lot. Sucks that my life is troubled and got mental issues. For some reason (U)DB anguishes/scares me. It's a lot easier and more fun to just do graphics and sound stuff. Dehacked stuff is daunting too but like yesterday, with the help of ADD medication I spent a lot of time fiddling with deh and doing graphics but used UDB practically only to test my creations in a square room. I've managed to do two unfinished levels with ideas (one so big linedefs stopped working) during the about a year I've been back to Doom mapping (mostly gathering and producing graphics) after more than a decades being away (I only did a few maps, sadly of which only two survives, I've lost so much created content). It's ridiculous, I've got over 32MB of gathered (mostly self-made but also borrowed, edited etc) 99,9% vanilla compatible content in my resource wad and I'm both creating, looking and asking for more. I even haven't been through most of my photos. Just keep getting different ideas and interest but hoping to at least produce a resource wad for others to use if I don't manage to overcome my irrational dread of UDB and be able to produce map(s)/partial conversion. I'm mapping in Boom format BTW. Just wish it had slopes and even a single 3D floor possibility. I'd also _love_ to be able to include more sprites and dehacked entries, which should be possible with Boom? I just can't understand online guides with my broken head :/ I could take  a look if anyone has good links?

By the way, I still find it strange that I haven't found drug/ruin/dark urban kinda stuff in Doom (also so many levels re-use same graphics, especially city levels, and the Doom bookcase is probably the mostly overused texture) and how few (was there like one? I asked once but don't wanna go through old posts) levels have bugs (the crawling kind) or even animals etc. Even though I don't try to or want to make my level(s) sad I have pretty sick sad intro images and sprites etc of syringes, pills, pill bottles, beer bottles (shootable, so ugly and simple but I'm proud :D) etc. In general I find it weird how few maps seem to have breakable sprites (and why didn't iD make any?). I have different kind of trees among other things that you can blast to smithereens which I find so satisfying and would probably make everything breakable but I've ran out of dehacked entries :/

So, besides helping to find the assets I asked for the biggest help to me would be for someone to try to make me understand how to or help make me more dehacked entries? I'd also like to really understand how ANIMATED and SWITCHES work, I haven't even got a complete grasp of them, let alone animated switches :D I've also been thinking that I guess there aren't any sites where I could find custom vanilla-compatible monsters? Or an application (or something) that would help to convert ZDoom etc monsters to vanilla/boom? I know that much of the behavior etc finer things would be lost but if it even helped with the renaming of the gfx, maybe resizing and palettizing as well, that'd be a big help. A very simple version of such program might not be outside my very rudimentary Delphi skills but I have trouble functioning and having time for everything. I'm bored of default monsters, even if the change would be only cosmetic.

If I want to make enemy not being able to move, which would be the easiest way? I've also got a custom security camera sprite, how could I simply make it so that it would alert the monsters if it sees the player? One more question that popped into my head is that can I safely rob half dehacked frames of existing stuff (for example megasphere) for my own stuff? I ran into some problems but managed to get one 2 frame custom sprite working by sacrificing the last two frames of two powerups. This is why I'd love to have new frames.

PS. Sorry for stupid questions and how long and messy this post got, my head's scattered and I just felt like writing. I'm a real loner, don't even participate in online discussions etc. I do read DW a LOT and I like when people write about their Doom, especially editing, experiences and stuff. I'd like to further improve my talents and perhaps even try to contribute to some project (not ready for big commitments ATM though) or maybe someone would like to try to contribute to mine? Wish I had more of my ideas mapped out but I could show what little I've got and the resources I've made. One thing that sucks big time is that the (thousands!) textures and flats in my resource wad aren't sorted but a total mess of mostly non-descriptive names and also my own/edited dehacked entries are also all over the place, not so easy to find. I sincerely thank all answers to my previous posts and this best of the Doom forums and sites! I wouldn't have gone anywhere without them and a lot of other resources that I've found here too.

I think Hexen and Heretic have appropriate textures and sprites, although of course user-made ones are always less of a grey area.

What time period are you aiming for?

Modern, medieval sorcery,  futuristic, etc?

You should take a look at Blood assets.  Lots of spooky graveyard stuff and swampy wet stuff, some good urban textures too.

I think you could do everything you want with your cameras in DECORATE.  I found DECORATE to be the easiest, most approachable, and most readable way to program custom monsters, weapons, and items.  If you haven't already, download SLADE3 and get some DECORATE kung-fu in your skillset - if you have all the assets, making a custom monster can be done in a couple minutes OR you can spend all day making a super complex set of behaviours and properties for them.

(The camera might be tricky, so don't start there off the bat if you're learning DECO - but when you feel ready I think the key to doing what you want is with custom damage types and pain states)

Map 11 of 1 Monster used tombstones and other such textures, although they may have been taken from Hexen/Heretic/Blood. Map 15 from that same mapset also does a good job at decrepit mansion.

Ever Shrine may have some thing for you with regard to water, since you are the last surviving member of a ship that came to an island looking for the fabled Evershrine.

And you could always look at Oasis for other water and sea things, seeing as how Mouldy described it as "6 maps of nautical mayhem."

I should've really specified this. Modern, hence wooden stuff won't do (unless it's really weathered and in the background). I wonder if I have to rip cemetery images from google or go to a cemetery with my camera (it's just that it's winter and cemetery is far away and people might look at me angrily or funnily). I should've probably also said that I prefer "photorealistic" look (as much as Doom allows but like rather graves be pixely and unrecognizable than cartoony with readable writing).

Sorry I've been away for some time. I've learned a tiny bit more of how dehacked operates. I don't think I'll even try deco let alone zscript. They're difficult and I find limitations breed creativity and even limit removing vanilla format seems to be a bit too much for as I've become such an asset addict and seem to enjoy my time the most when doing graphics.

Speaking of graphics, whose avatar is this?  The first time I saw it I thought it was cool as hell, I saved it and created bunch of flats/textures by modifying it but now can't remember or find it's owner. I usually don't ask permissions (mainly because I've got assets from _so_ many sources and just can't remember which graphics is from where) but in this case I thought of doing so and would like to learn if he/she made this or is this taken from somewhere?

BTW. I'm sure I have more questions besides the already asked unanswered ones but one comes to mind: How much of a delay approximately there is in average online multiplayer game regarding weapons and the sounds they make? I mean like, if player 2 shoots player 1 how much of a delay there is from when player 2 presses the button and player 1 hears the sound of that weapon? Hope you understand, sorry for my broken english. I'm dreaming of an unconventional project which this would affect...
