Fun fact about yourself!

I tried looking for a similar thread but apparently there's none! - which surprised me out of all things.

Anyway, here's the idea. You post and share with the community one random fun fact about yourself that you feel comfortable talking about. Maybe there are people out there who shares a common experience or attribute in general.

So, I'm gonna start with one simple thing I'm not quite sure how often it does happen among players, so here you go: my key binding "W" is actually bound to "E".

When it comes to classic Doom IWADs (Ultimate Doom, Doom II, TNT, Plutonia), I prefer to play them through DOSBox.

I'm 1/2 Japanese

I understand Japanese and can pronounce word properly but I can't held a proper conversation, I can't read hiragana and katakana without looking at it for 1 min and imagine the chart in my head, and I don't have knowledge of which verb or noun can be written in kanji.

It look me ages to find out that ぜんぜん can be written as 全然 which make 0 sense to a mainly mandarin speakers (because those characters are pronounce like ㄑㄩㄢˊ  ㄖㄢˊ [quán rán])

Good on you for searching OP, I could've sworn there was a similar thread. I think my fun fact was that I've never cut myself while shaving my face, despite shaving daily. That fact has sadly changed as I slice open a mole on my face a while back. Oh well. I should come up with a new fun fact.

I'm learning French and have some very basic conversational ability. I also think @leejacksonaudio is insane for eating fries with mayo and vinegar. Though I guess I can't knock it till I try it. I'm also in a band and I collect records. That's probably enough fun facts.

People have said a lot of different things to my appearance.

Such as...

I look like 12 after I shave my face, I look like a girl, I look like a gituar and history teacher, I look like 24 and 30 when I have a mask on, I look like the final boss of Guess Who? (I don't understand either) and some other I forgot. So good luck finding me in rl since I apparently switch my appearance like disguises every day, despite only having long (nice looking) hair and being a fatass.

Oh yeah, although I am the best English speaking student at school, I still constantly spellcheck every single sentence I write. Not sure what you guys will do with this information, but I sure can't wait for the targeted ads waiting for me at the end of the line!

I list Cat as a language in my CV. Sometimes I like to meow. I also mentioned about the meowing in a psychological evaluation that was part of the transgender diagnosing process here.

I can count to 10 in around 30 languages and read 6 writing systems, 8 if you include the consonant alphabet I invented and the Standard Galactic Alphabet (I can read some Chinese characters too but I don't know enough to say I can read it properly--I can learn to read Arabic or Georgian without speaking the languages but that's kind of impossible with Chinese)

Also I type on a Dvorak keyboard and I've never been stung by a bee

Dang, that's sick. As I Chinese who lives in US, I would say, the alphabetical language and the structural language are very different things and it's hard to cross from one side to another. It's understandable that you feel this way. I also feel it when I was learning English. I'm not saying my English is good in the universal standard, but I'm definitely better than most of Chinese. It does take a lot of effort in learning it, but luckily I played English games when I was 6, so that's a good learning opportunity, heh.

I love doing the same. I don't even like to play them with any other mod.

I once got kicked from a Quake Live Clan Arena server for being the only one on my team that survived for longer than 5 seconds.

The reasoning behind said kick eludes me to this day.

My dad recently traced our family tree back as far as he could. Along the way he discovered we are related to:

  • Dr Joseph Bell, the inspiration for Sherlock Holmes
  • Robert the Bruce's brother
  • Odin

Apparently he got as far back as a Nordic king who was said to have been a son of Odin, making me part god I guess?

I believe it's this one:

But facts being specifically fun sounds fun.

I played guitar in an Iron Maiden tribute band for a few years in the late 00s, entertaining many a VFW hall patrons. I think the only Maiden song I had heard beforehand was from Vice City, but it was cool to learn a bunch of songs from a "new" old band and play some local shows.

Doom is only a facet of my hobbies. But I also play Magic: The Gathering (Izzet Murktide, Boros Burn and Humans) and I do a ton of sim racing. I even have my own rig. I also do weightlifting. Also, I am a huge F1 fan.
I like the idea of this thread, a lot. It's nice to see what people expand into outside of the main hobby because it just humanizes us more.
