I write opinion pieces on Medium and somehow amassed a few hundred followers, I work out a lot but can't stand sports (which makes for strange conversation when people assume you like hockey or whatever), and I've never broken a bone.

I once had to defend myself in court against a false charge of dangerous driving after getting caught up in a vendetta against of my friends and his neighbor. The charge was ridiculous but I had a free lawyer. He couldn't make it on the court day and sent a replacement. During lunch recess before my case was heard, I was sitting on a bench when I overheard him and the prosecutor talking about playing golf later and getting this over with quickly. I was then called to a room and told plead guilty or you'll probably do time. I replied I wasn't pleading guilty to some thing I didn't do and he said, "well I can't help you". He said nothing during the case. I was 18 confident and cocky, did all the talking and generally acted like I'd seen on LA Law and shit, judge ended up throwing out the case and questioning why the police had brought it to court at all. I seems surreal thinking back on it all now, but it really happened. Hope they missed their fucking golf too.

I was elected to the post of Democratic Precinct Chairman for my precinct in the 2000 spring election by a margin of one vote - mine.

 

You see, there was no candidate on the printed ballot for the position - they were only accepting write-in votes. I thought, "what the hell, I'll never win it anyway," so I wrote in my own name.

 

About four to six weeks later, I got a letter in the mail congratulating me for winning the position of Precinct Chairman for Democratic Precinct 2142. That meant my write-in vote must have been the only one cast. I was dumbfounded, but there it was. I had won. By one vote. Mine.

 

I showed up at Democratic Party Headquarters for the big installation ceremony. When it came to my position, someone stood up with another person and said that the other person would like to volunteer to be the Precinct Chairman for my precinct. The County Chairman thanked them for their offer, then advised them that someone (me) had actually written in their own name and had been elected to the position. The reaction in the room was hilarious, except for the two people who had stood up. Their jaws had hit the floor. I was sworn in at the end of the night. Never did meet my would-be usurpers.

 

I didn't do much during my term. I served as an election judge for my precinct during the 2000 Presidential Election (Gore won our precinct - I've still got the records), but that's all, really. I did not run for re-election. When the next election came around, I noted that someone had indeed filed their name as a candidate for the position. I'll bet it was the person who volunteered at the installation ceremony - they probably didn't want to leave anything to chance this time around. Good for them. They probably would have won even if I'd run for re-election. Oh, well. At least I had my moment in the sun.

We're a 5 piece band, all original music, based in San Antonio, Texas!

 

Trying to push for goals like releasing a full

length album and touring.

Before posting or replying to anything on the internet, i first write my sentence in English and then to double check it, i translate it to Hindi (my native langauge) so that whatever i said is not totally different to what i thought in my mind... Anyhow, i do this very rarely, only when I'm writing a very long sentence (500 words or more) or when there is need for me, to be verbose.

platforms! Plus, merchandise will be made!

Thanks to the handicapped left hand I've been left with after surgery for carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, I can no longer clip my own fingernails. I have to go to my wife's nail salon and get a manicure now.

 

She goes too long between nail trims.
