You guys sound like you are terrified for your lives every time you sit in a car. Maybe take some more driving classes??? This kind of mentality is ripe for accidents as drivers are too stressed, too tense, too nervous, and end up making poor decisions.

there is a direct correlation between:

the abandonment of the manual transmission in base model econoboxes, proliferation of the crossover suv/death of the station wagon, and inclusion of iPad Inspired Dashboards in every single new vehicle on the market
with
accident frequency, general motor vehicle operator aggression, and road damage (amount/severity of potholes is exponential with the weight per axle)


what made me a decent, alert driver was a manual transmission, no joke. could roll a ciggy in one hand, shift with the other, not even swerving. last accident i got in was because some kid was scrolling tiktok in a construction zone and forgot what a lane was. they went full banshee mode on me immediately afterwards.

all of this could have been prevented if

the public transport infrastructure that was present 100 years ago was expanded rather than outright demolished and later suppressed. "we'll have the car drive [over some small humans] for you so you don't have to worry about driving" they say, aint yall ever heard of a fuckin train?
