What're You Watching On TV, and How? (Cable, Streaming, etc.)

Recommended Posts

I use streaming services for almost everything and I haven't watched any traditional live TV (or anything like that) in over a decade.

There are two shows I'm sort of checking out right now. Midnight Club, a home for teens with terminal illnesses that seems to have some supernatural occurrences and 1899 - a historical drama of sorts that also seems to have supernatural elements. It's kind of a slow burn though.

Been steadily chipping away at Hellsing Ultimate via streaming, 's pretty neat, if very, very edgy.

Also been looking at a third? fourth? watch of ATLA, also via streaming, lol.

Meh. Not much. The only show I'm really into, Doctor Who, isn't on till November so there's basically nothing "new" for me to watch unless Sonic Prime's second season is coming out this year.

I'm only 2 episodes in, and shockingly, the One Piece live action adaptation is pretty damn good.

I can't tell if it's actually amazing or when comparing it to Netflix's adaptation of Cowboy Bebop it looks amazing.

Is it like good good? Or good because you haven't seen the source material in ages?

Because I remember similiar  thing with the live action Alita Battle Angel.

When I first viewed it I thought it was prety great but upon slowly getting through the original manga I found out that the movie version was a rather confusing mess that mixed various plot point from diferent manga issues.

I think its good good. I started reading the manga for the first time this summer - I'm about 100 issues in.

It's a good adaptation, but a lot is missing from the source material, which I don't consider necessarily bad. Just a sacrifice needed for the live action adaptation. Primarily there are some smaller characters that are only just referenced (the Buggsy arc, for instance) which was rich in the manga but I think it's fine it's brushed aside.

One big change that I don't really like is how Rororona is introduced. It's a very minor change, but the way the manga did it was so much better.

I watch documentaries, national and international informations on a TV of 41 inches with the bouquet of HD channels of my Internet Provider. But i prefer watch concerts and videos on the most popular streaming channel (that's why sometimes i post concerts and videos on the thread of music) : Youtube in free mode.

The TV and the routeur are connected on a PC assembled in 2011 or 2012, (i don't remember) with Windows 7 inside.

Edit : This PC is also connected to a mini Hi-Fi system for a better sound, i forgot to mention it.

I decided to check out Rian Johnson's Poker Face on Peacock.

It is pretty good so far. They are clearly doing a sort-of Columbo homage here, except the protagonist here is not a police inspector played by the late Peter Falk, but a down-on-her-luck drifter played by Natasha Lyonne with the ability to tell when someone lies.

Typically I watch random videos on YouTube, but when it comes to actual shows, right now I'm enjoying an anime called Delicious in Dungeon that's every Thursday on Netflix (I'm really loving these weekly episodes, I prefer it over just a whole series dropping to binge, gives me something to look forward each week and helps me pace myself). This anime has been a real surprise to me. It starts off in a seemingly generic fantasy setting, with a very comedic twist of eating monsters in the dungeons, but as the series progresses -- you come to know the characters, which are all very likable, and there's even some emotional bits to it, so I'm like wow -- this is more than just some silly comedy, you actually care about the characters' goal to go deeper into the dungeon to save the protagonist's sister who was eaten by a dragon (they're trying to get to it before she's digested in a month).
