Connectors fixed - there's 3 total and I can add a North connector if needed but I'd prefer not to.

Yeah, it works. You seem to have misunderstood the purpose of yellow keys, since there's only supposed to be one. But it's not a big deal. I imagine the one in the north of red pedestal is the most interesting.

Ideally, I'd like it to have something that is an identifiable reference to several original doom MIDIs. That would fit the map perfectly.

Since this is E1M7, shouldn't that be tag 75 (075)?

I'm not pressing right now, taking advantage of the lull to handle What Lies Beneath release.

But since you asked, it's as good time to ping them as any, I guess. The sooner we close the last two slots, the sooner the process of assembly can begin.

Difficulties: Implemented

Recommended starting weapons: Shotgun and Chaingun (the rocket launcher might make the baron encounter slightly less grinds, but it's not unreasonable to come in without it)

Treasure implemented: Yes (although you have to traverse most of the segment to get it)

Entrances: 4

Combined vertices, lindefs, sidedefs, sectors, things: 1548 (according to Slade)

Tested in: Chocolate Doom v. 3.0.0, ZDoom 2.8.1

 

I think this covers a lot of the major areas of E3M3 that stick in my mind.

Alright, now that we sorted it out, here's what happens next.

I have uploaded all the segments to Google Drive, you are all welcome to check them out again for bugs and whatnot. Please check your own submissions to see if I got the right one, I probably did, but still.

I will play them all again in the next few days taking public notes in the same table as before, while planning the setup. Then I will merge them all.

E3M4's all looking good :) Real excited to see the final product.

Is there a particular method you have for picking which levels will connect to other levels? Are they going to be ordered by regular Doom 1 level order / clustered by episode, or is it just going to be more or less random?

Probably more random or arranged by difficulty.

Mine (E1M4) is fine - but I did notice I made a mistake which makes it possible to trap yourself with the first secret switch. The special on that door should be 118 not 117.

Ok, I fixed it. Also there seems to be a missing step, I'll fix that too.

Have you considered making one quilt per episode? That way each map has 9 segments, which will increase balance and gameplay and it will be much easier to put together.

 

And you'll also have the correct sky for each episode

This might be a good idea, but I think one big quilt would be more fun. Maybe it could be a backup plan.

In E2M7, sectors 19, 27, 37, 38, 39, & 60 have CEIL1_1 for their ceiling. Sector 60 should have FLAT5_4, 27 and 37 should have MFLR8_3, sector 38 should have CEIL3_3,and the rest can CEIL5_2. Linedef 259 is missing its upper texture - should have BROWN144.

When assembling, please keep in mind that both of mine have merged sectors that could break when copying and pasting them.

Maybe 4 quilts of 9 levels grouped together? So, all Episode levels are all grouped together. Once you find the first keycard, you can then move onto the Episode 2 part of the quilt, etc...

While we're handing out unsolicited advice, I'd love it if there are sky transfers in place to make sure each square has the correct sky seeing as most ports support them nowadays even in vanilla. I don't think the quilt really needs to be in any order, though - it'll be fun hopping all around out of order.
