Doctor_Spengler Posted March 18, 2023 As a child it's what has gotten me into skating, and now that I recently got back into the series replaying the first 3, acquiring 1+2 HD (which is totally worth it, it goes on sale here and there), and finally playing underground. After revisiting the series, it got me back into skating. I relearned the boardslide and 50-50 in a surprisingly short amount of time. Still need to relearn the kickflip ironically enough. But I absolutely forgot how much fun this game was. My favorite is 3, it's a shame that 3+4 HD never went through. Has the series ever impacted your life? Or hell, were you just a fan of the series? Tell me about your experiences. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted March 18, 2023 I’ve spent a ridiculous number of hours on the THPS/THUG games. It’s easily my favorite game series that isn’t classic Doom. I don’t know what there is about it, but I was obsessed from the first time I played THPS1 at a friend’s house as a kid. It’s just so satisfying to play. My favorite overall is THPS3, but 1+2 is fantastic as well (and smooths over some gameplay decisions I didn’t love in THPS2). I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed THUG2 when I revisited it a year or two ago — the story has aged incredibly poorly (and it was never exactly good) and its soundtrack isn’t nearly as iconic as the earlier games’, but the level design and gamefeel are some of the best in the series. Favorite level is Airport. I can’t even begin to imagine how many hours I’ve spent in that map. It really is a crime that 3+4 will never get the chance to be remade like 1+2. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

Eurisko Posted March 18, 2023 (edited) THPS is responsible for getting me into many bands and artists. Amazing series of games, THPS 1,2 ,3 and Project 8 are my faves. I always go back to them. Played them from the beginning on PS1. I hope to see them continue. On a side note, check out this THPS documentary that was made a little while back called ‘Pretending I’m A Superman’ Here is the trailer. Boaby Kenobi Posted March 18, 2023 I played a lot of THPS. The 2nd game was where I really became obsessed. THPS3 was one of the first games I bought for PS2 back in 2002. THPS4 was decent but the first 3 games are my favourites. Played a little of the THUG games but not much. I also enjoyed the Mat Hoffman, Kelly Slater and Shawn Palmer games. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
GuyMcBrofist Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) I remember how popular they were. For me they were games that would be at a friend's house, and I would watch them play it. I never got past figuring out the controls. EDIT: come to think of it the closest thing to THPS was a Coolboarders game for PSX that I played a lot of around the same time. Mystic 256 Posted March 21, 2023 I've been playing the THPS games on side lately, currently on THPS2, I think I'm close to the end though I'm trying to do as many goals done as possible but I don't I could do all of them though (some of them are just beyond my skill level) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

mrthejoshmon Posted March 23, 2023 (edited) Me and the boys grew up on Tony Hawks, we loved that shit and actually took up skating and skater culture well before we were old enough to actually go anywhere with it. Whilst the vocabulary stayed with me, even to this day I'll casually drop over the top douche skater talk mid conversation like it's plain English (and get the expected "huh?" response), the skating itself however didn't, one day one of us had a gnarly ass bail and ended up having carved themselves a Hitler tache out of their own blood and tarmac (on top of everything else that got rekt). Still have an appreciation for the Birdman and skating in general but I'll just stick to the games. Edited March 23, 2023 by mrthejoshmon 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
