TheSlipgateStudios Posted March 18, 2023 I finished it last year in December and oh boy did the music slapped! The combat was good, the collectables kinda useless. I missed a few upgrades but I will play the game again and get everything on that future playthrough. The only downside of it is the size of the game, it took me 16 hours (!) to download the game but otherwise it's a masterpiece and very welcome to the Hall of Doom! Can't wait to play the sequel, Doom Eternal! I have a question though, is SnapMap creation still active? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Love Eternal, the DLCs not so much. I see @FNSG posting Snapmap Stuff every here and there in the Forum. Doom 2016 is a pretty badass Game from Start to Finish, i somehow think in the End i will come back more to it than Eternal, even if my Playtime right now say clearly that Eternal wins. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Still very active, the best and the most active creators are on a Discord server unfortunately. This thread mentions some of the new stuff it has: 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ARMCoder Posted April 10, 2023 (edited) I started playing Doom 2016 in 2018 and haven't finished it yet... and most likely I never will. I've made some restarts over the years, and always ended midgame with the same conclusion. This is a too long, too hard and too complex game for my skills, taste and stamina. Not a criticism on the game, it's just me. Edited April 10, 2023 by ARMCoder 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

That is, to look for and conquer every weapon upgrade, secret, challenge, rune, praetor token, argent cell (did I forget anything?) and make a slower level progression. I replayed all the past levels as needed to get all the rewards, what served as a good training too! In the end I earned 8 of the 12 available runes, from which I stuck to three that I really liked. The last rune trials are REALLY hard to me! There's no doubt that all the upgrades combined made a great change on gameplay, even the boss fights (Mama Spider included) got relatively easy to tackle! Finished at last! I'm not yet sure whether I will try the game in UV, maybe some day... Cheers! Edited June 23, 2023 by ARMCoder 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
OliveTree Posted July 3, 2023 I believe the size was inflated when they made the DLC a free part of the base game. I appreciate the gesture but it would be nice to be able to download only the singleplayer, as the snapmap and multiplayer dont interest me 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Hell, I've learned a lot... but... what can I say about my experience playing in UV? The gameplay was mostly challenging but not oppressing, however the two final levels (Vega Central Processing and Argent D'Nur) were REALLY hard on me! I died a lot, and in the end, I think that sheer stubbornness was more decisive than actual skill. And no, I'm not playing Doom in Nightmare anytime soon. UV made me sweat enough and I think I've found my limits. I will try Eternal next, and of course, I will still keep playing 2016 just to relax. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Doom 2016 is great, the developpers have done a great job about exploration which is rewarding to boost the Praetor suit and abilities, i wish that you will like Eternal which is more better in my point of view, with more upgrades and the most important point : ennemies have weakness, so every weapons and their upgrades have their usefulness. Eternal is more speed, offer more challenge and most of levels are truly well done and excellent. It is a bit linear but the exploration is here. You will like it, good game and have fun ! Edit : you have probably finish the game :p Edited August 15, 2023 by P_A_Z 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
