Atari to acquire Nightdive, deal expected to be completed in April

Yeah this got me too. I assumed that they were upset that Atari were acquiring Nightdive. I mean why say "WHY" if you're excited about it.

Because some people on a Discord server I went to implied some negativity or at least I thought they did in my impression.

And plus nowadays, I'm not very trustful of all these constant mergers and acquisitions between bigger brands or corporations in video games and the entertainment industry as a whole.

And Atari getting into this NFT shit also made me feel a bit sus about my favorite classic gaming brand.

People often cry "WHY?" when a close loved one is found dead or some other great loss is experienced.  Just a little over-the-top for "simple disbelief."

Anyways...

Congratulations!

Holy cow!  My dream is to be paid handsomely for working as a video game developer--and look!  They did it!

Here's my money.  Take more of it, you delightful bastards.

Okay so it leans more towards being good news.

Good to know.

Sorry for the apparent false overreaction I seemed to give off.

I totally relate.  I, too, am very uneasy when I see companies like Embracer, Warner, and other gigantic publishers gobbling-up so much content.  They seem like monsters.

But looks can be deceiving.  In this case, the monster referenced was recently washed of its brain and has a new one installed.  Impossible to know this early if that's good or bad, since there's little evidence to support either claim.  I hold my judgment until something actually happens, instead of worrying about what might come.

Judging by the evidence from the Nightdive members who have been interview or have otherwise expressed their opinions, this seems like a good move, indeed.

Hell, even the interview article is apprehensive, so don't feel too bad!

Perhaps this is the first major step away from the hotel building, cryoto embracing, Souja Boys of the past. We'll have to wait and see!

I'd say your reaction is the knee-jerk one to be expected in this era of cash-grab gaming.  Just know that there's still hope!

Well I'll take your word for it.

I just hope the marriage between real true Atari and Night Dive turns out to be the best compared to all the recent acquisitions/mergers we've had in the past several years or decade alone.

Doesn’t Atari own Hell 2 Pay and Perdition’s Gate? Hmmmmmm. . .

My understanding is that the rights have reverted over time to the original creators. Which, in the case of Perdition's Gate, is Tom Mustaine, who had a download of the full version on his personal website before it went the way all unguarded Wordpress sites go.

i will not rest easily until i can purchase a version of the most accurate immersive simulation of being a line cook with psychosis, PO'ed (developed by Any Channel, released in 1995) compatible with modern machines, online, at the retail store, at the retail store online. was published by the company last known as Infogrames North America. perhaps the rights exist somewhere deep within the recesses of Infogrames Atari SA. i will be waiting

PO'ed was self-published by Any Channel on 3DO, so they probably had the rights. Lord only knows where those have gone, but another Any Channel game, Slave Zero, is currently getting a new game using the IP published by Ziggurat, who I believe are also associated with Wade Rosen, Atari's relatively-new CEO and Night Dive's primary investor/new boss. So, you know, between that and Kaiser unironically wanting to remaster PO'ed, who knows what sick abominations will be inflicted upon the earth?

There's nothing else left to do with Doom64.

Sure? I also have this bug with the Unmaker sprite. Is it a possibility, that something like that will be patched out? Are patches still costing money for the publisher?

Anyway, I wish the best for Nightdive. Because of EA, many gamers hate acquisitions, but I think it can help.

The German developer Piranha Bytes was also bought by THQ Nordic and it seems that everything is as it was. Depends on the publisher and its decisions.

We can only fix what we can reproduce. We don't know why you are seeing this. Also I kindly ask you not to chase us around in other threads asking about bugs.

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere Joe Wilcox saying the standard contract for the stuff Simply Silly did for Wizard Works involved the rights reverting to the creators after a few years. So that would mean Hell to Pay and Perdition's Gate are now owned collectively by the people who worked on it, and not by the current legal Wizard Works rights holders.
