BouncyTEM Posted March 28, 2023 In all the years the doom community's been around, have there *ever* been a mapping tool where multiple people can work on a map together, simultaneously? It seems like it'd open a whole new plethora of possibilities and excitement to me - multiplayer mapping, community projects revolving around funny gimmicks or interesting challenges you can force teams to work together on, the ease it'd give for collaborative efforts on a project in general... for some of us who are newer and more inexperienced with mapping, it'd be cool to have a direct mapping tutor to learn from, too. I think it's an idea that'd be worth pursuing. :o Though I do know it probably wouldn't be easy to implement... ^^; 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Stabbey Posted March 28, 2023 Because it's an incredibly difficult idea to implement. The amount of work needed to create it and idiot-proof it would be an order of magnitude more difficult than "Okay, I'm done with this part, it's your turn to work on it now." If you can make your own new editor which supports it, you can feel free to take a shot at creating it yourself. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Votterbin Posted March 28, 2023 Why not just use Parsec or TeamViewer or some other remote desktop software? That'll get you basically the same thing with very little kerfuffle beyond setting it up 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Sectorslayer Posted March 29, 2023 I bounced around some ideas on how to implement such thing. It should not be too hard to implement in the existing editor concepts. But you would need to broadcast editing commands and make sure, they are *all* played out in the same order for every participant. That is a hard part and there it seems to be a niche feature in the end. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
