Probably my funniest ironman death, I did way more damage to myself throughout that run than any of the monsters put together

 

Might have searched for more secrets but was terrified of softlocks

Blind type 1 attempt.  Was feeling tired and weary after finishing map 3 and decided to cash out.

 

Is it still considered a Good At Doom moment if one lives through it?  Anyways, had a few accidents with the rocket launcher, not that I'm expecting anyone to sit through a hour and a half demo to find them.

I evidently thought this was a good mapset, since I picked it for IronEagle three years ago. It's unfortunate that there are so many softlocks in this mapset, because I still think that it is otherwise a good mapset. I don't have a whole lot to add here, except to say that I thought I had a decent approach to taking care of the archvile, popping out from behind cover and taking shots with the SSG. And that would have been a good approach, had I managed to hide as I intended instead of stepping out into the open as I did.

Fun WAD. With all the softlock warnings I didn't go too crazy hunting for secrets, its too bad that so many were found.

Almost died in MAP05 due to totally botching an early Archvile encounter, had to slow to a crawl until I found some extra health.

I do like how the monster presence beefs up considerably once you have the non-secret BFG, a lot of other WADs tend to get too easy once you get it.

There was no need to put the BFG away so soon: that was me worrying about saving ammo for a rainy day even though the current fight wasn't quite over yet. That hesitation meant that I let myself get cornered.

 

My thanks for the due diligence in collecting a softlock report: I definitely would have gone for that MAP02 jump if I hadn't been specifically warned away from it.

Leaderboard updated! Only took me a further week, but that's due to objective reasoning. 

 

@Bdubzzz wins it on the 25th hour (for the second successive month) and moves relatively clear from @LadyMistDragon on the yearly standings. LadyMistDragon just barely missed out on the Top 5 this month, which might be a problem as @Asbadagba, who was placed first most of this month, got 2nd and is creeping closer to 2nd on the yearly board as well. Despite the best death in the history of the League, @dt_ keeps in the Top 5 on the standings, while @Death Destroyer - 4.7m4d achieves their first Top 5 placing in a challenge, just behind @Veinen who placed one spot higher. What a way to return for both, and what a way for @mhrz to achieve their first survival, getting only their second Top 3 result and rising 10 places on the standings! @Suitepee also reclaims his place in the Top 10 with a confident survival (first time since 2017 that you survived 3 months in a year!), while yours truly made up 5 places. I swear it's not a fix.

 

Meanwhile, @Pegleg finishes second-to-last (but not last!) for the fourth month in a row, or rather in 6 out of 7 last challenges Pegleg faced. Hey, at least it's not last! ... speaking of, there's been no repeat last places so far this year, which is an encouraging trend!                                                

Glad to see so many debutants this month, and I hope to see you all at dt_'s challenge this month too!
