Civvie 11 FINALLY Does TNT: Evilution

Civvie should be given the choice between playing Plutonia 3: Going to Surface and playing TNT: Revilution.

I feel that Civvie wanting TNT to be just like Plutonia is kind of missing the point of the WAD. I'm not even a big fan of TNT but man he's pretty harsh about it.

 

If he wanted TNT to be like Plutonia, he could have just replayed Plutonia and pretended it was TNT. This could have been a funny April's Fools joke.

Curious if some of them even played the WAD or if they just parrot everything their favorite youtuber says.

TNT is an acquired taste (at least in my case). You have to take into account what sort of tools they had at the time. Sure, some levels like Metal, Quarry and Habitat are legitimately bad, but I found myself appreciating the set way more on my second playthrough. Not to mention the legendary soundtrack.

To get a more in-depth critique by someone who knows more about level design than Civvie I'd recommend watching Dario Casali's series.

I want to say that I love Civvie's content but this joke sucks and as def overstayed its welcome. I would have rather had a single video rather than the world's longest April Fools joke and even then I would rather it be something else other than "I really wish I wasn't playing TNT".

Like Kinsie said, I think this is the point. Civvie made it clear, multiple times, that he doesn't like Evilution and didn't have anything interesting to say about it. People still wouldn't stop bugging him to play TNT. By doing it this way, there's pretty much nothing people can say he didn't cover about the wad, he makes the point that he doesn't really have much to say other than thinking it sucks, and he gets to play the youtube algorithm a bit because shorts are the new hotness right now.

I know the point of it and I had a bit of a chuckle about it in the beginning but ughhh it feels so dragged on that I haven't bothered to even click on the newest short released for it because it's going to just be "It sucks". I do remember in a older video of his that he talked about TNT briefly and flat out said it was boring and just moved on from there. I guess is this the solution to people begging for a PRO DOOM episode on TNT but I would rather him just do something dumb like PRO Chex Quest or PRO HACX instead of the constant everyday shorts.

It would’ve been accurate if it was a Plutonia map, not TNT map. His complaints boil down to “it’s not like in plutonia”, and all of a sudden easily taken down archvile is a bad thing.

 

I can’t say that I’m a TNT fan, but I accept its weirdness and find it charming.

 

To sum up all the current “problems” with his tnt review:

1) The joke outstayed its welcome

2) He clearly said that he doesn’t like tnt way back in D3 video but he had to review it anyway because some of his audience can’t shut up about it therefore him being too harsh 

3) The same audience who think that they are game design gurus will shit on this wad only because they adopt any opinion civvie has without any critical thinking

 

Also: plutonia map17 has roughly the same ratio of low/mid/high tier enemies but for some reason it’s not spamming (I know why, but it would be nice if he could bring it up and explain)

For that kind of information, you'd have to join his Patreon. That's where he shares his plans. The rest of us are left in the dark until he uploads.

I admire Civvie's dedication to this. I would only play up to map 10 or map 15 everytime i replay TNT since i can't stand the later levels, He's going all the way it seems

At this point, this is almost as bad form than Gmanlives thrashing SIGIL because it was hard on Ultra-Violence.

 

What next? Will he compare TNT's Central Processing to Eviternity's MAP32?!?

A problem that would be solved if Civvie just stuck to his guns and covered what he felt was worth covering because he wanted to and for no other reason. Honestly he should never have even brought TNT Evilution up after his initial decision not to do it, it's not like he didn't put himself in this position by bringing it up repeatedly when he didn't even have to, and it was kind of annoying that he did.

I think it's because of Plutonia, it sets the bar high for TNT. If Plutonia didn't exist, maybe TNT won't be as divisive as it is now, even less, if it wasn't a commercial release.

I do think the decision to make Evilution a commercial release has effected people's initial expectations going in. I've still not got around to playing Evilution myself, although I have beaten Plutonia.

I don't watch stuff like Dean of Doom or Civvie but it would be great if he covered Master Levels. It's certainly a relic of the past, but Attack, Paradox, Bloodsea Keep and Black Tower are actually decent.

I've only played the first 4(?) levels of the Master Levels and I've enjoyed most of it so far. But if Civvie is begrudgingly repeating the same damn complaints about there being too many damn tech-bases with too damn many low-tier enemies for TNT; he will be put in a vegetative state if he ever so much as brings up the master levels
