Ronald Raygun Posted April 7, 2023 I stream to my friends in Discord fairly regularly, but when I stream they do not hear anything besides music. Currently I have tried using PRBoom+ and DSDA-Doom, and in DSDA they don't hear anything at all. I'm curious if anyone has run into this issue before, or has any recommendations. Thanks! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Major Arlene Posted April 21, 2023 If you're streaming your entire desktop, Discord will not play sound on a window for some reason. Stream your window only and they should hear the audio if Discord's sound settings are correct. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
sukerokushin Posted June 8, 2023 (edited) a bit late, but i've experienced this across both crispy and dsda-doom and i can tell you the culprit is windows' midi synthesis. discord doesn't grab music from the source ports because the source ports arent playing the music back. if you try using fluidsynth + a config specified soundfont you'll see the music will work through discord again because now the ports are using their built-in fluidsynth library for midi playback. a good way to sidestep this while not diverging from the microsoft gs sound is to use something like RLNDGM.SF2 with fluidsynth, which is a readily available soundfont conversion of the normal microsoft gs wavetable. for the record this also applies to any other kind of midi stuff running through portmidi—personally i use the roland sound canvas VA vsti for when i want sc-55 sounding music, and discord doesnt pick up on that either. unclear how this would work on other OSes Edited June 8, 2023 by sukerokushin 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
