Sneezy McGlassFace Posted January 27, 2023 Great, punny title. A picture of her under the sea. Also, it's great math rock. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Music from that era (60s-80s) from anywhere behind the iron courtain is super interesting because all the western bands were banned outright. Not only you couldn't just go to a music store and buy Pink Floyd or Beatles or some other "imerialistic garbage". But if you somehow got an LP, and the authorities found out, you'd be in big trouble. Dad told me a story when he and his friends tried to go to a secret rock live show. It was a cover band for something from the US. A guy who knows a guy was friends with the organizers, that kind of thing. So they took train with other fans to a some small town, and went to where it was supposed to be. Two buses full cops shown up form somewhere, herded them all in an underpass so they couldn't run away, beat them up, shaved their long hair, got them on the buses, drove them to the outskirts of another town, and just dumped them out there. And the matter-of-factness with which he told the story made it all the more incredible. Like yeah, that's just how it worked. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

And the joke of Soviet Communism is that the elites of the Soviet Union were just as Capitalist as the "Imperialists" they criticized. Totalitarian and corrupt, it's a package deal. And the wealth-gap, oof. It would me nice to have a system that doesn't reward being a greedy sociopath.. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
