And "Songs of Love and Hate" is close behind it, just amazing albums, and every time I listen to "Suzanne" I get shivers, and I'm reminded of being a teenager. You have some really good taste in music. And today I had "Golden Age of Grotesque" by Marilyn Manson playing in my car; which is a complete 180 from Leonard Cohen. But I was listening to both albums in 2003/4, and love both of them. Edited July 19, 2023 by Jello 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

A lot of people in the fanbase ignore everything Manson has done post 2002, but I think The Golden Age of Grotesque was a great one. I especially like how his voice sounds in it, and songs like Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth wouldn't have been out of place in Quake II's soundtrack composition-wise. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Lemmy said it was because he was able to sing songs that the band wasn’t able to sing without him (like Silver machine) or something like that. I don’t think that drugs was a problem in the band. Hawkwind, In search of space, You shouldn’t do that. Space rock.⚫⚫⚫⚫⚫⚪ 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Oddly enough, I kind of ignore Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood. I really like Portrait of an American Family and Smells Like Children, because they captured the weird sort of midwestern, alternate-normalcy, every friend I meet has a fucked up family that I was surrounded with growing up. And Anti-Christ Superstar deserves a place on the 100 best albums of all time, it's an amazing album. Just hands down, I listened to it for the first time and thought "this is really, really good." But The Golden Age of Grotesque is such a uniquely themed, well thought out, enjoyable album. The wordplay involved in most of the songs is really enjoyable, although at times somewhat forced, but it sounds like listening to Dr. Seuss at times. And I'm pretty sure a large part of my enjoyment was that Tim Skold was involved with the album, I fell in love with the industrial theme. The songs that he did with KMFDM are some of the best songs they've ever made, and it really carried over to Golden Age. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
