When I open customs wads, the game goes crazy

When I opened Galaxia (and some other WADs), everything goes fine until I actually start playing. Here's what I mean:

 

It loads so slowly, gets real glitchy, and after 2 seconds of gameplay, crashes (and by crash, I mean immediately close)

I used Prboom+ on this, and the Doom Shareware as the Iwad. What's going on?

(BTW, this screen recording is not exactly what happened. Although, that one fraction of the menu screen did pop up as soon as I started playing, and stayed until the game suddenly closed)

You never use shareware doom for loading mods (in fact Prboom should be blocking that, weird). You can grab the full version in the usual place.

Why should a commercial product be free?

 

In any event, as dasho said, Freedoom is completely free, so you could use that as a replacement for the commercial iwad. And you can always succumb to criminality and just copy that floppy (or rather, ask someone who has the commercial iwad to share it with you).

Yeah, I'd use Freedoom if you aren't able to pay for the commercial WADs and don't want to seek out illegal copies. Not only is Freedoom free, but everyone has explicit legal permission to copy and change it.

 

You might experience issues with custom sprites, but it's otherwise it's a perfect drop-in replacement for anything that requires Doom, Doom II, or Final Doom IWADs.

you cant use doom shareware to load custom wads, i think. how do you do it?

you only can play custom wads with doom.wad, buy it or (alert, bad guy thing)

You are literally telling him how to pirate a commercially sold game. Moderators generally don't look favourably on piracy.
