Gotta be albums you listen to from start to finish.

V: Havitetty - Moonsorrow

Honestly I very much enjoy most of Moonsorrow's works. But this one is my favourite by far, especially if you just let it take you on a journey. 2 tracks, weighing in at 30 and 26 minutes. The 2nd track, Tuleen Ajettu Maa, stands well on its own, and is the shortest 26 minute song I've ever heard.

The Mantle - Agalloch

Pale Folklore is good and Ashes Against the Grain has some real memorable tracks, but The Mantle is the most consistent and really makes me apreciate the mix of acoustic/steel-string acoustic with the distortion. Great album for a grey november day.

Hemispheres - Rush

There is much debate about which Rush album is best, and frankly with only 4 tracks on this album that probably helps. A 20 minute track 1 which is an epic in its own right, and a solid instrumental closer, hard to go wrong with this one.

Nattfodd - Finntroll

Just a fun album honestly. Finntroll's got a lot of hit and miss but this album is consistent and Wilska's vocals are the best of the 3 singers there have been IMO. Their most recent album was pretty good but I'd still give nattfodd the edge.

Hell Awaits - Slayer

Reign in Blood is overrated for sure. If this album had even slightly better mixing on the instruments but keeping the vocals as they are, it would be truly amazing. Once October hits, I throw this in my car's cd player and it doesn't leave until Nov 1.

In no particular order (except the first one):

Venom - Black Metal

Probably one of the most influential extreme metal albums out there, and my personal favorite. In my mind it's the perfect metal album upon which all others are judged.

Alice in Chains - Dirt

A consistently great heavy grunge album, and there's a good reason it sits atop so many "best rock albums" lists.

Exodus - Bonded By Blood

Thrash metal perfection. No posers here, this is the real deal.

Slayer - Show No Mercy

An album that's often overshadowed by the infamous Reign in BloodShow No Mercy is what I consider to be Slayer at their best.

Metallica - Ride the Lightning

Almost every fan of heavy metal within a certain age range was introduced to the genre through Metallica. Some have chosen to denounce their discography entirely based on their downfall in the 90s and early 2000s, but I refuse to deny how special their original trilogy (the "Cliff Burton Trilogy" as I like to call it) is. Sure Kill 'Em All was more true to the genre of thrash and Master of Puppets was an overall more consistent album, but Ride the Lightning has some of their hardest highs in their entire discography, and is easily one of the most influential albums in the greater heavy metal genre.

Honorable Mentions

Alice in Chains - Facelift

While not as consistent as Dirt, tracks like We Die Young and Bleed the Freak are amazing. Also I have @Doomkid to thank for indirectly introducing me to the album through his MIDI contributions for TWANGO 1, featuring Put You Down.

Venom - Welcome to Hell

Venom's more raw debut and predecessor to Black Metal is arguably even more influential to the metal bands that came about in the 80s and has some great tracks with heavy themes done right.

Exhumer - Possessed by Fire

I was introduced to this album through a YouTube channel called Ruthless Metal, who described the album as a mixture of early Slayer and early Exodus, which sounded like a match made in heaven. And it is! If you like early thrash metal with that Teutonic cadence many German bands have, it's a great listen.

Destruction - Sentence of Death

A great EP (EPs are allowed because I say so) that is kind of like a convergence of German Thrash Metal and elements of first-wave Black Metal (Teutonic Blackened Thrash Metal?).

Pentagram - Pentagram (Rereleased as Relentless in 1993)

Pentagram's self-titled debut album is a treat for anyone who likes that Ozzy-era Black Sabbath sound, because that's really what Pentagram is; the American Black Sabbath. Great album.

...and @OpenRift for Show No Mercy!

I bought the cassette tape of Hemispheres when I was 14 or 15 years old and I think then, Signals had just been released.

The other three songs are good but that one side of the tape is just killer! As for the Slayer, it's not a whole album but I think

Haunting of the Chapel is awesome too.

There are too many albums I should place in this list, even if I pick one in each style I like.

Maybe five albums by style?

OH WE'RE EXPANDING TO 10 HUH?

6. Brand New - The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me

This one has lost points over time due to the stuff that has come out about lead singer Jesse Lacey, making it a little hard to come back to. But this is the first album on my list that I would describe to be absolutely perfect. The others have 1-2 songs I don't care for, but there's no skips on this. Just one of the best emo albums ever. Lots of songs do the quiet-to-loud dynamic perfectly, like "Sowing Season" and "You Won't Know", and are just perfect releases of building tension. Then we have songs line "Limousine", which details the death of a seven year old girl in a drunk driving crash, which deal with loss. It's a fantastic record, just tarnished by history. (Favorite song: "Jesus")

7. Jimmy Eat World - Futures

Another prefect emo album, this one doesn't get as abrasive as the last one, but is filled with earnest, catchy tracks. From fast paced rockers like "Pain" and "Just Tonight...", to mid-tempo tracks like "Work" and "Polaris", there's a solid variety of that 00's emo sound. My favorite song used to be "Drugs or Me", a very slow-paced lament, but has since changed to album closer "23", a fan favorite that is absolutely epic. Got to hear that one live before, and it was amazing. (Favorite song: "23")

8. Neverending White Lights: Act I: Goodbye Friends Of The Heavenly Bodies

This album will only really be known by Canadians and Detroiters, since this band is from Windsor and used to get played on Detroit's Canada-based alt-rock/Triple A radio stations. This was my favorite album for the longest time. It's a long one consisting of 16 gothic ballads that verged on ambient at times. Each song is sung by a different singer. The first track is sung by the mastermind of the project, Daniel Victor, and the rest are sung by members of other bands. Singers from bands like 311, Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Ours, etc. The album's biggest hit, "The Grace" is a slow indie-rock track featuring Dallas Green of Alexisonfire and City And Colour, and is my second favorite single of all time. It's a very beautiful album that deals almost exclusively in death. (Favorite Song: "I Hope Your Heart Runs Empty")

9. City And Colour - Sometimes

SPEAKING OF WHICH. This is a solo acoustic album that features some of the best sounding acoustic guitar I've heard. Plus, Dallas Green just has such an angelic voice. While all the albums after this expanded his sound and added instruments, I still prefer this raw and basic one over the rest. Not much else to say! (Favorite Song: "Day Old Hate")

10. Fucked Up: David Comes To Life

One of the few albums I ever bought having not listened to anything on it or by the band before. I just liked the concept. It's a rock opera about David, a worker at a lightbulb factory who meets Veronica, an activist. They fall in love and plan to bomb the factory, but Veronica dies in the explosion. David feels horrible, and the album's narrator agrees. It turns out the narrator has pulled some Stranger Than Fiction / Stanley Parable crap, and things get weird. Pair this with melodic hardcore punk that is filled with tons of guitar tracks, and you've got a very unique and hard-hitting album. (Favorite Song: "Queen Of Hearts")

I remember you have attributed this notation on In Winter of Katie Melua with the Choir of Gori in Georgia. I have listen this album one time in my life last year, and i agree, it is very good, but this is not the artist i want to listen actually.

My actual Masterpiece is the fantastic Neurosis/Tribes of Neurot: Times of Grace/Grace. What a mix perfectly coherent. Beautiful, sensitive, melodic, atmospheric, powerfull, with heavy and slow riffing, Avant-Garde of the Post-Metal genre with hardcore vocals. They created a style. When I discover this album it gave me the same effect of Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve when i was 19 years old, a beautiful and strange surprise when i was listening Thrash Metal like Sepultura or Metallica. Now I am 49 and i keep on listen to it in 2023, but i don't like to listen "Djent" bands, this is not my stuff.

imo Xasthur titles often fit the format of "bad thing + unawareness". Like: To Violate the Oblivious, Screaming at Forgotten Fears, Malice Hidden in Surrealism, Obfuscated in Oblivion, Forgotten Depths of Nowhere. He should do one just called Unaware of Bad.

My favorite Xasthur title is "Telepathic with the Deceased". I wish I liked the album as much as its title tbh.

(oh boy this took forever to write)
if so then uh
1. 10000 Gecs - 100 gecs
While it only came out 2 months ago it has quickly become one of my loudest, and most favorite album I listen to, Personal favorite tracks: Dumbest Girl Alive, 757, Hollywood Baby, Frog on the floor, Doritos & Fritos, Billy Knows Jamie, I got my tooth removed and Mememe, if you didn't notice thats pretty much all the tracks, not to say I don't like One Million Dollars and The Most Wanted person in the united states but they don't hit me as much as the rest, the only downside of this album is that, like 1000 gecs, it lasts less then half an hour, but that also makes them very unique
Loudest Track: Billy Knows Jamie

2. Hangman - Cade Crider
One of the most underrated artists, the album was released halloween last year and has become one of my most favorite hidden albums, from the head bangers such as Bored and Pilot to the weird and wacky known as Euphoritarian, this track will have something to interest you looking for an underrated album, the downside is that it can drag on a little bit, especially near the end, and has 2 relaxing tracks which ruin the flow a little doesn't make it bad though! Personal Favorites include: Pilot, Bored, Euphoritarian, Take Me home, Love and (DREAMS)
Loudest Track: Bored

3. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge - My Chemical Romance
A Pretty Good Album, why not put Black parade here? well because most of the songs on that started to bore me, while the songs on this album haven't, a downside is that this album doesn't actually contain bury me in black, one of the heaviest MCR Songs ever, but everything else makes up for it, another downside is that Thank you for the venom doesn't have a music video, heck Dumbest Girl alive isn't a single but it has a music video, otherwise, still really good, Personal Favorites: Helena, Give 'em hell, kid, Thank you for the venom, I'm not okay (I promise), The ghost of you, Cemetery Drive, I never told you what I do for a living and Bury Me in black (if it counts)
Loudest Track: Bury Me In Black

4. How To Be A Human Being - Glass Animals
One of the most Nostalgic albums to me, brings me to childhood and animation memes, it contains a list of songs about people Dave Met while live, which makes it more truthful then most of the other Glass Animals Albums, featuring a ending song about an actual friend of Dave who died, while I do love this album it contains a lot of samples and also [Premade Sandwiches] which isn't a song its a intermission, otherwise its a good album, Personal Favorites: Life Itself, Youth, Season 2 Episode 3, Pork Soda, Mama's Gun, Cane Shuga, The Other Side Of Paradise, Take a Slice and Agnes
Loudest Track: Take a Slice

5. Buds - Surf Curse
While This album is known solely for Freaks, this album is a BLAST from start to finish, containing a speedy intro and ending with a slow song, people don't really know how good Surf Curse actually Is, I'd Recommend checking out the album more then just Freaks and actually more of their albums, they go for a more romantic-y sound in the later albums which I like, Personal Favorites: Chloe Kelly, Bummer Friends, Heathers, The Smell Saved my Life, Goth Babe, Freaks and Fire walk with me
Loudest Track: The Smell Saved my life

6. 1000 Gecs - 100 Gecs
100 Gecs' first album is an anomaly in the world of music, fitting into basically no genre, it has the same amount of tracks as 10000 gecs and buds and a similar length to both, but being the shortest of them, this track has head banging from start to finish with the exception of a few slow tracks, I'd Recommend it if you heard 10000 gecs, but not this one, Personal Favorites: 745 Sticky, Money Machine, 800DB Cloud, Stupid Horse, xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx Ringtone, gecgecgec, Hand Crushed by a mallet and Gec 2 Ü, if you notice there is one track missing... I think if you've heard the album you know where I Need Help Immediately Is, not bad, but definitely not one I would want to listen to a lot.
Loudest Track: 800DB Cloud

7. In Utero - Nirvana
I shouldn't need to explain why this is here, bolstering many tracks, this album as one of my friends put it, is a Magnum Opus Against God, its that good, while due to many other albums being good, I can't say I hate all the tracks on this album, infact some of which are my favorite songs, Personal Favorite Songs: Serve the Servants, Scentless Apprentice, Heart Shaped Box, [I can't say the name of this one], Frances Farmer, Dumb and All Apologies
Loudest Track: Scentless Apprentice

8. American Idiot - Green Day
One of my first favorite albums, it holds up, but obviously, due to it being 8th, it has been dethroned from number 1 by a lot, whats wrong with it? well its one of those albums that can't really be looped, especially on the longer songs like Jesus of Suburbia or Homecoming, but some of the other tracks inspired my love for other song types, some songs can be looped, but the songs with Segues can't be looped so its kind of hard to loop it, but its still a great album, Personal Favorite Tracks: American Idiot, Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Are We The Waiting, give me Nova-cane, Letterbomb and Whatsername
Loudest Track: Letterbomb

9. Screaming Bloody Murder - Sum 41
I had to pick a Sum 41 album to put here, and while I would put Chuck, I Decided Screaming Bloody Murder works better, it bolsters a loud soundtrack of 14 songs, a lot of which are also liked by my dad, while it is a good album I can't put it too high, Personal Favorite Tracks: Reason to believe, Screaming Bloody Murder, Blood in my eyes and Crash
Loudest Track: Screaming Bloody Murder

10. Something Real - Meg & Dia
Now time for an album that is just nostalgia incarnate for me, I love all the songs on Something Real, but the thing lowering them down is the fact most songs have a similar feel, which good they all sound pretty good and I would listen to them again, Personal Favorite Tracks: Monster, Indiana, Tell Mary, Roses, Nineteen Stars, Cardigan weather and Setting up Sunday.
Loudest Track: Monster (Mostly because its one of the few heavy songs on the album)

and an Extra 5 I woulda put here but I decided not to
1. Dookie - Green Day
2. Dreamland - Glass Animal
3. Here, Here and Here - Meg & Dia
4. Chuck - Sum 41
5. The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance

Most of these I won't need to explain why, just know because they were all pretty good but either got old or a better album found their place. (Not like I don't like them as much, just I listen to those albums more)

Now for my top 10 Favorite Tracks because I wanted to...no wait lets make that top 25...I have so many Glass Animals Songs I can put here...thanks Dreamland...most of these were songs I can immediately name of the top of my head that I really like... this also should say how much I like a mix of Genre's...especially Glass Animals and 100 Gecs Lol
1. Hollywood Baby - 10000 Gecs - 100 Gecs
2. Freaks - Buds - Surf Curse
3. Gecgecgec - 1000 Gecs - 100 Gecs
4. Bloodstains - 100 Gecs - 100 Gecs
5. Melon and the coconut - Dreamland - Glass Animals
6. Take me home - Hangman - Cade Crider
7. Agnes - How to be a human being - Glass Animals
8. Mememe - 10000 Gecs - 100 Gecs
9. Sympathy 4 the grinch - [Single] - 100 gecs
10. Domestic Bliss - Dreamland - Glass Animals
11. Waterfalls coming out your mouth - Dreamland - Glass Animals

12. Tokyo Drifting - Dreamland - Glass Animals
13. Be a friend to me - The Nightly Manor Volume 2 - The Nightly Manor
14. Dared To Dream - Double Dragon Neon OST - Double Dragon Neon
15. Tangerine - Dreamland - Glass Animals
16. I don't wanna talk (I just Wanna Dance) - [Single] - Glass Animals
17. Hand Crushed by a mallet - 1000 Gecs - 100 Gecs
18. Helium - Dreamland - Glass Animals
19. Scentless Apprentice - In Utero - Nirvana
20. Heatwaves - Dreamland - Glass Animals
21. Still Breathing - Revolution Radio - Green Day
22. Stupid Horse - 1000 Gecs - 100 Gecs
23. Monster - Something Real - Meg & Dia
24. Pheonix Wright the Musical (The Turnabout Encounter) - [Name also every single song] - Random Encounters
25. 45 (A Matter of time) - Order in Decline - Sum 41
