Stroggman Posted May 2, 2023 I am not having fun recording a map since I can't save so I may stick to video capturing 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Cinnamon Posted May 2, 2023 A bit of an obvious answer to that question? Some people like vanilla, others strawberry. For me it's pretty much whatever, since I tend to play without saves anyway, unless I'm studying/scouting a map. My end goal is (almost) always to beat a map without saves. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Stroggman Posted May 2, 2023 I guess to each is own and if I'm finding saveless run to difficult I prolly should move down to hmp from uv dif level 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Shepardus Posted May 2, 2023 What are you recording for? If it's not for submitting a speedrun to DSDA, then you can use dsda-doom's -dsdademo parameter to record in a format that supports saving, loading, and some cheats. Also, recording single-segment demos doesn't mean you can't practice outside of recording. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Nefelibeta Posted May 2, 2023 just don't record maps that you don't like. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
SleepyVelvet Posted May 2, 2023 I used to record everything because went through a "play everything saveless" phase, so one might as well record the demo too. This also meant a lot of things were a grindy drag, so I play most stuff without recording now... but it depends on the mood, and having a demo to pass along to the mapper is sometimes nice. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
TuomasGaming Posted May 3, 2023 I just played through The Shores of Hell in one sitting. Yes, I did feel like crap. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I'm recording to prove to doomers that I can beat a map, but yes what I'm not doing correctly when recording is I'm not speed running, I think I will stick to casual save scuming doom play and have fun! DNSKILL5 Posted May 3, 2023 (edited) Currently I mainly do Duke 3D videos on Damn I’m Good difficulty and play saveless/deathless for the viewers (and mappers) benefit to see their map played in a seamless manner, and I enjoy the end result because I can look back and remember the effort I took to make it happen. That’s just my personal preference for my channel. Plenty of people save and reload in their videos and people still watch; so just do what you prefer that is fun for you to do and your audience will come around. Some people just have grown into the habit of playing through maps without saving. In my particular case i tend to record demos when speedrunning a map or when i’m making commentary content. Really it’s all down to preference. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted May 9, 2023 If it's of a shorter variety, I'm at a point where in most maps I can go around 15 minutes without starting over being a big deal. Past that....it's probably a map best savored so no demoing for that! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
