Xfing Posted May 2, 2023 Hey, I've been playing this WAD, since I'm a sucker for WADs stylistically close to the first two games, and more recently I've developed a taste for Doom 1 episode replacements (DTWiD, NEIS, Deathless and more). But when playing 2022: ADO - episode 2 specifically - I've noticed that certain walls don't lower for me and certain switches that are supposed to work multiple times, work only once - leading to frequent soft locks. Is this a known issue in Crispy Doom? Should I be playing in a GZDoom-based port instead? Thanks 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Shepardus Posted May 2, 2023 It requires a Boom-compatible source port, which Crispy Doom is not. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xfing Posted May 2, 2023 Ahh gotcha, thanks. I must have missed that on /idgames, as it's not stated in any easy to read place. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
pcorf Posted May 2, 2023 Read the text file. If I made the wad solo it would have been limit removing. But Kristian prefers Boom format so we decided on Boom compatible. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Valboom Posted May 2, 2023 If you like Crispy Doom I recommend using Woof! 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Woof comes from the same lead developer as Crispy, and it shares its 480p graphics and prioritization of fun over complexity, but with support for Boom, MBF, and MBF21 WADs. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
NightFright Posted May 2, 2023 IMO there is actually little reason to prefer Crispy over Woof. You get an almost identical experience, but in return all important map formats are supported. Once Woof also supports truecolor mode, I'll probably abandon Crispy completely (at least as far as Doom is concerned). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
s4f3s3x Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) Some features and cosmetic things seems unique to Crispy still. I can think about simple stuff like the automap colors or the mirrored corpses... Makes sense to differentiate between the two. Being also limit-removing only, I realize that most of the times it's just easier to straight up use Crispy instead of fiddling with complevels in Woof if I just want to play -clv2 wads. I know, it's just a couple of clicks so no troubles, but... UX subconscious I guess @NightFright Truecolor in Woof? Is it going to be like in GZD or what? NightFright Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) Currently you can only have it if you use custom Crispy builds, it's not implemented yet. However, once I started using it, I never looked back. I have requested it for Woof on Github as well, but I guess it's not a laughing matter to make it happen. Edited May 2, 2023 by NightFright 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
