DSTS Posted May 2, 2023 Hey, this is my first time creating a wad. I'm using the Ultimate Doom Builder with Slade and have doom2.wad as a resource. I would like to use a few doom 1 textures too, how can I add them and use them normally in UDB? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
1 Kappes Buur Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) add the resource files https://imgur.com/dHX3uPs select the textures https://imgur.com/a/iEfrWzR But, as you know, you have to import the textures from the custom texture pack into your pwad if your want a stand alone pwad, then have Slade3 create the TEXTURE1/PNAMES lumps as described in the WIKI tutorial. 1 The Almighty Egg Posted May 2, 2023 Ooo if you want to add Doom 1 textures in your doom2 wad, try to use this zip file from Doomkid.https://www.doomworld.com/forum/post/2261424 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 SOF2Fragger Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) Add it as a resource too. Exclude it for testing. Edited May 2, 2023 by SOF2Fragger 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 DSTS Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) But that doesn't work when you want to play the wad and can choose only 1 master wad Edited May 2, 2023 by DSTS 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 SOF2Fragger Posted May 2, 2023 Open the wad in Slade and extract the textures, then load them as a resource. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I really don't understand where I'm supposed to extract the textures. You mean extract the textures I want from doom 1 to a seperate wad and load 2 files as resources? I wanted to just have one wad file that you would load when you wanted to play it, not 2 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I'm creating a custom wad with 2 episodes, that uses doom 2 as a base resource for monsters, textures, etc... I would like to be able to use a few doom 1 textures when creating new levels in UDB for my wad, and for it to be just a single wad file that you can drag and drop when finished. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 SOF2Fragger Posted May 2, 2023 You can't add textures to "doom2.wad". You need an extra wad/pk3. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

0 DSTS Posted May 2, 2023 I have no idea how it works, I just started creating maps for doom 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 Kappes Buur Posted May 2, 2023 it sounds easy enough to do but can be quite confusing for someone just starting out to help you understand the concept behinf textures see http://slade.mancubus.net/index.php?page=wiki&wikipage=How-to-Import-Textures 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

That's what you need. Package your stuff, new textures and all, into a new wad. You still need 2 wads: Doom2 Your mod. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 Individualised Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) Sorry for hijacking the thread but is there a .WAD like this that adds both Doom 1 and Final Doom textures to Doom 2? I would have thought that would be something everyone uses but people mostly just seem to use the Doom 1 textures for Doom 2 pack. Would be nice to have the ability to use all vanilla Doom textures without doing it all manually. Edited May 2, 2023 by Individualised 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I should mention I'm using UDMF 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 DSTS Posted May 2, 2023 Ok, I figured it out, needed to import texture definitions from doom 1 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
