Creating New Decorations

SwordsNotSwords

Question

I've tried looking up guides but a lot of them are quite old and even the Zdoom wiki says Decorate is deprecated so I'm basically wondering now: how do I add new decorations to a wad? It's a simple static decoration and I've seen what the actor definition looks like, but do I put it somewhere in SLADE? I'm kind of lost on the first step of just creating that actor definition!

I know you need an editor number and a sprite defined, so you can use it in the editor, but I use pk3, not wad. I find it easier.

Fastest way to learn this stuff is to directly look at already made things.

You can for example download mods with similar decorations to what you're planning on making and see how other people did it.

In the end, it all depends if you're working on a .wad or a .pk3, because the file organization differs quite a bit

Please, dont take anything from wiki as final. Decorate is deprecated in the way that it is not expanded further. If you want to make all decorate mod, just go ahead.
