Final doom tnt map 31/intermission midi

Recommended Posts

I've been watching decino and his final doom tnt but something's not right playthroughs. Recently, I also decided to watch Twin Peaks (90s tv show), and when I heard the intro music I partly expected hear "greetings everyone, welcome to my 100% play through..." - I'm not the only one who thinks map31/intermission screen music is almost the same? I see doomwiki references "legion of the lost" as an inspiration, which is also true, but I think it's even closer to the twin peaks intro.

Both themes use that silent bass, but TNT's Legion of the Lost goes for a less ambient tone because of the bell and drum instruments.

Sounds like you’re using the fake Doomwiki. On the real one you’ll find the correct inspiration: "Wild Stringdom" column in Guitar World by John Petrucci. This was confirmed by the composer himself. Other comparisons are coincidental in nature.

Whoa whoa whoa back the fuck up - JOHN PETRUCCI!?!!?  The hell is this??!

Please give me a source for this - if I find out that John goddamn Petrucci had some kind of influence on a Doom game, that will make my entire year

It’s in the post I linked to! Leo Sieben said the following about the song:

Quote

LEGION OF THE LOST

This is a name that I am not 100% happy with. "Legion of the Lost" is the name of a song by a commercial band called Grave Digger.  I don't know if they're still active or not.  Anyways. Someone somewhere commented that DOOM4 sounded like it was inspired by this Grave Digger song. I listened to it and maybe there's some similarity. Not much, but I can see why someone might have said that.

The truth is that I had never heard of Grave Digger before this comparison, and I remember quite plainly where the inspiration came from, for this one. In the magazine Guitar World, John Petrucci had a column called Wild Stringdom, and it was basically the lick in that column that inspired me. So I wish the community had a different name for that track instead of "Legion of the Lost"  but yeh =)
