Supplice mod: Infinity

What is this?

This mod, simply put, allows you to play Supplice on any doom wad, similar to other gameplay mods you see on the forums (The Guncaster, Brutal Doom, Dn3Doom, ...).
It has the needed classes to replace Doom's original actors with Supplice actors.

This mod does not distribute any Supplice code and assets itself, except for some ZMAPINFO data needed to glue things together and some code to apply dynamic lights to inhered actors.
You still need to own the original game (namely Supplice.ipk3). So go buy the game and support Cage, Brett Harrell (Mechadon) and the team behind Supplice. It's worth it!

(1) In Supplice, if you pick a second AssaultRifle, you dual wield them. Since in doom maps you usually don't have the opportunity of picking a second pistol,
i implemented a system where Mutalists have a 10% chance of dropping an AssaultRifle instead of bullets.

(2) Carbonizers have a 10% chance to drop a Cremator instead of a Fuel Cylinder

As you can see, not all monsters were swapped. Supplice has 3 more monsters that were not mapped here, but with the exception of the "hostile turret" mob, i don't think they are useful at this moment. Two of them don't even appear on the game, i think. I'm also not sure about some changes (marked with a question mark).

Decorations Replacement
Barrels, Eyes, Pillars, Lights where swapped with Supplice equivalents

Texture Replacements
Liquids, Door lights (1), gates (teleporters) where swapped with Supplice equivalents

(1) Supplice does not use all the same key/door light colors that the original doom. For instance, there is no yellow card key, but a green one. So, for the sake of clarity, i switched the door light colors when appropriate.

 

Combine it with other mods

* Want more blood? Sure, just use your favorite blood & gibs mod (Bolognese Gore Mod, Nashs Gore Mod, ...).   

* Texture overrides? No problem.

* Fx or sound enhancements, like Code Fx, Universal Ambience, ...? They work fine.

How to install
===================================
Just use it as any other mod.
1) Download supplice_infinity.pk3
2) Run gzdoom, making sure you include Supplice.ipk3 and supplice_infinity.pk3
Command line example:
gzdoom -iwad doom2 -file PATH\TO\SUPPLICE\Supplice.ipk3 PATH\TO\supplice_infinity.pk3 PATH\TO\YOUR\FAVOURITE.WAD

How to play Doom 1 episodes and Doom 1 wads

Use Doom Combined to convert your doom 1 episodes to doom 2 and use the resulting "DC_gzdoom.pk7" like any other doom 2 mod. 
Example: gzdoom.exe -iwad doom2 -file "PATH\TO\SUPPLICE\Supplice.ipk3" "PATH\TO\supplice_infinity.pk3" "PATH\TO\Doom Combined\DC_gzdoom.pk7"

 

If you want to play a doom 1 wad, the process is the same.

Ex: gzdoom.exe -iwad doom2 -file "PATH\TO\SUPPLICE\Supplice.ipk3" "PATH\TO\supplice_infinity.pk3" "PATH\TO\Doom Combined\DC_gzdoom.pk7" "PATH\TO\YOUR\WAD\map.wad"

That is all. Please let me know of any bugs you find. I'm sure there are some. If you have any suggestions for better alternatives for monster swaps, feel free to suggest.
This mod was made with the released early access Supplice in mind, but should work fine with future versions, as long as the actor names remain the same.
I will also be keeping a look at new versions of the game to check the mod still works and maybe implement new content into the mod.

I posted this also on zdoom forum, but unfortunately, since I'm a new forum user, every time i update the post, it must be manually approved by a moderator. A process that could take a day. That is great to fight spam, but it's badly implemented because if you edit your post to fix a typo, you will have to wait hours for it to be approved. In the meanwhile, your post is completely erased, leaving only the comments. That can lead to the wrong conclusions. This is the main reason i'm posting this mod here, on DoomWorld in hope things work better here.

* [BUGFIX] The dynamic lights for objects are fixed. A good amount of pickups and decoration objects have now the proper dynamic lights attached.

* Manglers now have a 10% chance of dropping a RotaryShotgun. This tries to solve issues on maps that don't have a shotgun pickup,
  but have shotgun guy's (that also drop shotguns). For instance, doom 2 e1m2.
  Without this change, you would not be able to get a RotaryShotgun on maps that don't have explicit shotgun weapon pickups.

* Level 7 of the first episode of doom 2 will not work as intended. After killing everything, you would not be able to get into the portal unless maybe if you have jump enabled or rocket jump. "Bloodsea Keep" and "Mephisto's Maosoleum" from Master Levels may also have an issue, since the root cause is the same. Check here for more details.

Not bad, but your mod is not compatible with Doom.wad and the maps destined for it, only Doom2.wad. 
Replacing liquids textures gives incompatibility with splash mods and other texture mods. 
Doom2 allows you take the shotgun at the 2nd level, analogue doesn't drop here. 

Maps like map07 don't work if there are replaced monsters.

And It is desirable to replace all the monsters, I would do so:

Thank you for your feedback, Doomenator. Yeah, i noticed that too. I will take a look, but i'm rather new to doom/zdoom modding. If you know how to do it let me know.

Right now, if you want to play the doom1 episodes, i suggest using something like Doom Combined, that allows you to play doom with doom2.wad

That is strange. I have been playing with texture mods with no issues. In fact, i'm doing a play though with CodeFX right now and it's working fine. Just make sure you include any texture changing mods after supplice_infinity.pk3

You are referring to the super shotgun on level 2. This weapon is being replaced with the Slugger, so it's correct. The issue is that in doom, sometimes you get shotgun drops from a monster (shotgun guy) and here there is no such thing. I'll implement a 10% drop of a shotgun by the Mangler. Or a drop if the user does not have it already. I think it makes sense.

I was not aware of that. I'll take a look on other mods to see how they overcame this. Let me know if you know a quick fix.

I'm really not fond of having a smaller monster rooster than the original game by duplicating replacements. My hope is that Supplice will have more monsters that it has on the current early access release. There are mentions of a Yeti on the code, for instance. Not sure it will be implemented. There is also the Hostile Turret that i did not implement here, a ghost (very weak monster that can pass through walls) and a monster-bomb that tries to get closer to you and explodes. But it has a very limited live span before it explodes (2 or 3 seconds), so i'm not sure it's of any use as a replacement, since it dies almost instantly after getting aware of the player and can potentially kill other monsters in the process.

All of the above is not as important as replacing all the monsters. Since monsters from different game universes are nearby, it looks ridiculous and inappropriate.

Supplice has a giant gorilla that launches bombs and hits you with chains, a monster that is suspiciously similar to the Predator movie character and zombies that, alongside some of the lore, were probably inspired by System Shock 2's "the Many". How isn't that ridiculous to begin with? But it's also great :)

I'm more troubled with the other issue you mentioned, about level 7. Fortunately, on all doom 2 episodes it's level7 specific. It probably happens on 2 levels of the Master Levels, but i hope it's just that.
