How do you add a new sound for a specific enemy?

kosmoloko

Question

I'm making a sprite replacing mod that changes around the enemies to make them look cooler. But I'm doing it with realm667 custom monster that I took the sprites out of, so I probably can't upload it. I'm just making it for myself.

One of the monsters I've replaced are the hitscanners with the ZSpec Ops sprites, and I even went into FL Studio and made a cool half life 2 combine-like voice effect which I ran through the original zombie sounds. I tested it out just 2 minutes ago and it works great, aside from that the imps share the same screaming sounds as the zombiemen.

So how would I go about defining new sounds specifically for the imps?

That's what I already did. But the imps, zombiemen and sergeants share the same sounds. What I meant is to add a new unique sound and make it play when the imp gets hurt or dies.

Then name that sound effect and use Whacked4 to replace the sound effect for the imp.

You can change the pain and the death sound effect there

Open SLADE, open Doom2.wad, check the sound effects and their names.

Import the new sound effect into your WAD and rename it.

Example:

WolfSS waking sound effect - DSSSSIT

Import the sound effect into your wad and rename it DSSSSIT.

(Of course, the name changes depending on the monster)

The sound effect file must be a .wav so you can convert it to Doom Sound.

Imp sound effects start with DSBG.

Yeah, for the ambient/roaming sound, spotting the player, and 2 out of 3 death sounds. But it's pain and one of it's death sounds are shared with the zombies.
