Some guy got so pissed at me in TF2 he decided to add me on Discord just to send me several pictures of flattened penises.

Least deranged TF2 Player lmao

I remember prior to falling into this rabbit hole of playing DOOM, I used to be sorta big on playing GTA Online. GTAO had this thing w/ Rockstar Social Club where you can join crews which is basically their own version of clans n shit. Anyways, I was in a crew solely b/c you can get a custom color from the crew applied as a spray paint to the cars you have, and I liked it enough just for the reason to stay. I get an inv from one of the members to play an adversary mode that was really fun (it was a Tron inspired game match where you try to take each other out w/ the trails left behind from one of the Tron-inspired bikes) and b/c it offered 2X the amount of ingame cash. I play for 3 matches, and then I decided to leave to eat something b/c I was hungry. I turn off my PS4, go eat whatever in the kitchen, and then come back to my PS4 to watch something on YouTube. First thing I saw when I logged in to my user account there, I received a very angry, very long message from the same crew member who sent out the inv earlier for the game, essentially calling me a bitch and other obscenities for supposedly "not spending enough time with the crew" and dipping out after playing for 40-ish minutes. It was funny to me b/c the time needed to type that out w/ the playstation controller was probably a lot and dude could've just essentially sent me a voice message instead to curse at me.

ANY and EVERY session of Rust pvp. If it's not Russian zergs shouting the N word (their favourite after cyka blyat), it's grown-ass men running up to you all nakid and whispering in your ear "I want to lick your toes." and then running off again.

lately, ive been having strange encounters on the wild west that is public l4d2 lobbies, ive come across a lot of weird folk in my years experience of playing multiplayer games. here are some good examples

L4D community is pretty toxic nowadays. Hell, it was way back all along. Valve games' voting system is one of the factors that lead to this. You can't kick an obvious cheater, but everyone kicks you if you're not willing to constantly help noobs that lag behind

Between outright trolls, annoying unsupervised children and honest to goodness mentally challanged weirdos I would have to say that any civilized adult online interaction is at this point the weirdest and strangest thing that can happen in an online game. 😜

This happened once in Quake Live back when I played it:

I was playing a Freeze Tag match and there was this guy on the opposing team. Every time they got frozen, they tried to shout stuff like "HERE" and "FUCKING THAW ME YOU DICKS" in the general chat. Not team chat, the public chat that both teams could see. I felt the need to give them some friendly advice, so I did. As kindly as I could, I pointed them to the team chat function, as that adds map location info to your messages, which the public chat doesn't.

Their response? Along the lines of "Why are you trying to tell me how to play the game? My K/D is higher than yours."

That's... completely irrelevant to what I'm trying to fucking tell you. Whatever, clearly there was no reasoning with them, so I left it at that. In hindsight, I kinda wish I hadn't.

Being a woman online must suck.

I really hate those type of behavior, some pepole really needs to get help or to get out of their house and talk to women for once.

And its really frequent too ! A lot of times in game lobbies, when a female joins there like 70% person of the lobby asking for her social media (well maybe i exagerrated a little bit with that claim, But you get what i mean.)

A male acquaintance of mine used to pretend to be a woman in multiplayer games like CS. He had a pretty convincing avatar and steam profile. He did it purely for lulz, I have never seen so much simping. He didn't even have to try sound like woman in voice chat. He was gifted with a plenty of skins and game vouchers.

Yeah, a lot of users on games platform will simp any women that is in their lobby.

Not strangest but one of my best remembered ones. One time on Xbox Live when I was a lot younger, I was playing Terraria with these 2 random people (can't remember how I met them). We got on alright then they said "hey give us your most powerful item and we'll make it more powerful"

They then left, my trust has never recovered since...

About ten years ago I was playing a Half-Life 2 mod called The Hidden (basically one invisible guy with a knife vs. 8 humans with guns)

One guy was cheating with a bunnyhop script where he goes so fast even the hidden can't get him.  Obviously it basically ruins the game, so I was trash talking him and telling him to leave.  He gets fed up, and says "ok you're finished".  Then he goes afk for a few minutes.  I was now thinking 'oh haha, what a great time for him to time out from the server'

Then my ping shoots up to 9999, and my entire internet connection becomes unusable.  He must have DDOS'ed me, and somehow cleverly got my IP address.  I tried pinging my home router from my cell phone, and it would time out on 9 out of 10 pings, showing that my house connection was still up but just overloaded.  So I turned off my router for a while.  Then tried again in 30-60 minutes and it was fine.

It was just a wake up call that you're not 100% protected from retaliation online, so to this day I approach these situations assuming the person at the other end could DDOS or "SWAT" me if they wanted to.  Be careful out there!

One time in Tower Unite there was a weirdo in chat Comparing Sex to Quantum Physics, we cracked jokes about it before they left.

As someone with 300+ hours on Tower Unite, this is believable.

One time me and a friend spammed Ram Ranch on all the TV's in the plaza, good times.

I don't play much online, so the weirdest in-game interaction I've seen is pretty tame. When the first Natural Selection came out, I joined a server on the Marine side and stumbled into a text chat shouting match between two teammates over abortion. I don't know in what context could that subject have come up organically in the game, but it pretty much cost us the match and taught me a lesson: some subjects can't be broached without pissing everyone off.

Okay, a weird thing I did if I found a toilet in-game was to crouch on it and close the door and if someone opened it, I'd yell, "Hey, close the door!" I never got farther than "Hey-" before getting shot, probably because of THAT lizard trooper in Duke 3D.

That kid went off on us to the point they started calling us slurs and other colorful things but the funniest part about all of it was when there mom came in and started yelling at them to turn off the xbox, me and my friend we're sitting there listing and laughing until the kid's mother said "I regret having you! I should've left you in the bucket with the rest of the shit" and kid left the party.

After that me and my friend we're like "What...the....fuck man?"

Damn, that reminds me of a Youtube video where some spoiled kid demanded his mom make some "motherfucking chocolate milk" while he played a Rainbow Six game. I always felt choco milk kid needed some severe attitude adjustment, but I have no words for that mom's words.

When I played Team Fortress 2, I once encountered a guy with a Demopan loadout. I expected him to say the usual "Stout Shako for 2 refined", but every time he killed me, he said "( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)" in chat instead.

More frightening then strange.

Someone that I had beaten in Deathmatch in Serious Sam HD obviously took Umbridge with me doing this. So what followed was a campaign by this nutcase to dox me out of some twisted revenge for this persons bruised ego. My FB account was leaked. Along with my adress and the adress of my GF. It got to the point where I suspected somebody was going to kill me outside of my work place.

I was playing some ranked CS:GO in 2015. Someone on my team got called a newb which triggered him to have a sudden mental crisis. He spent the next 30-ish minutes giving a speech about how he used to be one of the top players in CS1.6 back in the day; how it's a useless skill, and how he wasted the entirety of his twenties mastering it. I was cringing through the whole thing, but I knew he was right. I dropped Counter-Strike for Rocket League later that year, but my attitude towards competitive gaming has changed since. In RL, I made it to Diamond III, realized I didn't have what it takes to go further and pursue either streaming or nolifing through the Champ ranks, and basically retired on the spot.

A few weeks ago I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 and encountered this absolute asshat. Before that there was some creepy motherfucker who posted in chat "Any cute girls with feet." I replied something to the effect of "1. Most girls have feet yes, it's a standard feature. 2. No one likes a creeper. Stow it." There was a player named Chloe in the game. One of the other players lost his nut at me for several levels afterward calling me out for white knighting and "she's not going to fuck you" and just wouldn't drop it. How fucking twisted do you have to be to think just calling out one asshole for being a creeper is some attempt to sleep with a girl who you don't even know where the fuck she is (let alone the fact that I have a partner and I would guess this girl was young enough to be my daughter based on a couple of things she said so ewwww). I had not played in a while so left and refreshed my memory on how blocking in the game works.
