Backup Backbone - Map 13 of Oripathy II

Recommended Posts

Hello there, fellow DOOMers !

It's been a while since I posted new content onto this website, not accounting for my participation in Matacrat's Blocked-Out! Project. You can check out this neat little thing here :

So, I thought it'd be good to release yet another single-map WAD. Thus, here's Backup Backbone, which is situated in slot 13 of my mapset for Oripathy II (I don't intend on releasing all maps separately, just the ones I believe are fun and good-looking ;) ).

- Intended for MBF21, thus making sure it's at least compatible with most ports (complevel21);

- Custom Textures are being used (32in24-15_TEX);

- Music is all by Eris Falling ("Diwedh" / "Hell's Furnace" / "Haze");

- Jumping and Crouching are allowed, but are not mandatory to finish the level;

Here's the link to download the WAD : BackupBackbone.wad

As always, please enjoy my work and leave your impressions of it !

Some great combat in this map, but the progression was kind of bewildering. Too many switches labeled with an exit sign that don't actually open the exit. In the included screenshot, you can see what I believe is the third switch labeled with an exit sign, that doesn't open the exit. In fact I don't know what it did. And at this point there is a huge maze of a map opened up, and I had to just quit the map because I couldn't find whatever was opened by that switch.

Spoiler

Both switches situated at the end of each section, those with an exit sign next to them, raise up the bars in the very first sector you encounter (the one with the SSG). If you had insisted further, you would've seen it, but I can't possibly give even more indicators without it being hamfisted.

Other than this slight fluke, thanks for playing my map :)

Cool intense map :) It's indeed a bit switch hunter heavy, but once you figure out that the exit needs multiple switches it's not too bad. Just wish I found the plasma gun earlier ;)
