Thanks for coming by everyone! I may replay these levels and give them their own videos so I can be consistent with the playlist on my channel. It was really fun! :)

So i want to mention that E1M1 is going to get a overhaul after i finish the last three maps for episode 2 of this project. I also want to mention that when you brought up Solar Struggle and Stickeny Installation, Stickeny is what inspired me to do this. But i wanted to make it more like instead of the whole "let me do an ID style mapping like Snax did" i went with a more "What if i threw a player in a dark abandon facility with monsters and darkness all round to make them fear the unknown in the dark". Now you may ask me "Scav? Why are the levels so dark?" The answer to that is because i was playing some Doom 64 maps and some of them had dark surreal area's in them to make me feel uneasy going through, and also i wanted make a map where i blended horror with survival in it so that way the player was always on there toes making sure they we're not going to be ate by a shadow demon or get torn apart by a baron of hell. The thing on the floor you though it was compass....that's a Nautical star, you see when first messing around with Ultimate doom i decided to put something that was like "hey look, i made a Nautical star in a doom map", but overall i'm glade you like it and if you want to hold off doing ep. 2 for now? I'm going to release it on the 30th of this month or July 7th in case i miss the first deadline for release. I did a over haul as well with the episode names so what your playing is episode 1: The forgotten soul. The next episode (episode 2) is called the red lunar eclipse, third is called The Dark Abyss (i know metal as fuck name) and the forth one is called The wraith of the spirit.

 

I am glade you enjoyed it and doom 64 vibes eh? Hmm might need to incorporate that more in the third episode of my mega wad set

I'll request another one, probably my last for a while as I need a mapping break I think lol.

 

Please try Map05 "Lucid Dream" of my set, recently posted here officially, so get the new wad download.  It's a medium to large slaughter map, but I think it's easier than map04 so it's why I'm requesting this one.  My par time is a little over 20 mins, roughly 25 mins or more of real time as I might die a few times on the first big fight and the last one.  Wouldn't mind a stream of this if you think it's too big,  a little over 1k monsters on UV

Thank you so much for your play through and your nice words! :) Very glad that you liked it. I was a bit shocked when you immediately mentioned Tricks and Traps at the beginning of your video, because I really had that in mind when going for all these traps. I just like that map style, when the map evolves because of all the traps that open up.

You were right about the outside area in the hell dimension, that you can get there. That is one of the secrets.

For the last fight, you can really fight the Cyberdemon and kill it during the timer. But you have to be very quick killing the first wave of that fight and then prepare for the second. Your solution was probably better. :)

Thanks for testing out the map. You did find one softlock on those stairs that lower incorrectly. I know why the sky are messed up and it is a line transfer issue I am working on. It seems to work for me with DSDA doom using openGL and GLboom lighting. when I run it in softwear i get the same skys are you get. You also played the map in hard mode for some reason you did not get the modified guns that are using dehacked. Both the chaingun and rocket launcher has had its fire rate increased I am not sure why they were not present in yours playthrough. If you liked this map their are 3 more that are currently finished if you want to give them a try they all have the same feel and difficulty level.

I'd love to! I'll probably replay your level and put it into a separate video, as I wasn't too happy about how I played on stream, lol. Great map tho!

1) Source Port: Doom Retro, Woof!, RZDoom or Eternity Engine
2) Map Number: MAP01-02
3) Map Name: Hotel of the Dead
4) Difficulty: Implemented all 3 levels of difficulty. UV will be challenging enough, but not stuffy and definitely not a slotter. So if you want to see all the battles in all their glory, then I recommend taking the UV.
5) How many maps is it: Technically, there are two levels. The level itself is on the MAP02 slot. But MAP01 is a short intro level and is an integral part of MAP02, so it too is mandatory (it lasts half a minute at most).
6) Map Format and what source ports it won't work on: Technically it can run on any modern Boom port that supports UMAPINFO, ZMAPINFO or EMAPINFO. But I highly recommend not using ports with hardware rendering at least on first pass (that's GZDoom, Zandronum, etc.).
7) IWAD: Doom 2

8) If you decide to pass on Doom Retro of the proposed 4 ports, I attach in addition ready config. Simply drag the .cfg itself into the port folder. If the weapon's recoil disturbs you, it is disabled through the command "WEAPONRECOIL OFF" in console. And also through "PLAYERNAME [your nickname]" you can set your nickname and in the menu adjust the sound and mouse sensitivity.

I also recommend that you don't turn quieter the music, it does a lot of the work in terms of atmosphere.

And I would also welcome feedback under the doomworld post itself. Have fun playing!
