Help! Issue using Slade and Doom Builder together

Recommended Posts

Somewhat new to modding, I have a map that I've made in Doom Builder and want to edit the wad in Slade to (hopefully) add music and custom textures.

When I open the .wad in Slade, there are lots of objects shown as question marks and I am unable to "Test" the map (this is built with Freedoom and just goes to the freedoom main screen). I can use 3d camera and edit the map mostly fine but I am hesitant to try and mess around with much in Slade for fear of doing a lot of work and finding out the level won't run in UDB again after the changes.

When I load the map in UDB the resources show as freedoom1.wad, freedoom2.wad, and gzdoom.pk3 (am unclear if all 3 of these are being used or only 1)

When I load in Slade and go to the map editor, I selected freedoom1.wad as the base resource

Is this a base archive or resource issue? And if so is there a protocol for setting the resources correctly? Or is this just how it goes using the two in conjunction?

I think you're only meant to use either freedoom1 or freedoom2, this could be the problem.

Try setting the map format's config to something like this except for where I have doom2, you have freedoom2.

Let me know if this doesn't work so I can find another way.

Also, nice little airsoft glock you're holding ;)
