Stabbey Posted May 29, 2023 You can open the standard WAD files just like any other WAD. I strongly suggest that you make a backup of the original WAD first, though. I'll also note that you shouldn't release your changed WAD to the public, because the original work isn't yours. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

The default case does not allow IWAD maps to be saved after being edited. What you can do, however, is open Slade3 and open DOOM2.WAD and a blank archive. In DOOM2.WAD highlight the namespace lumps for MAP02 (Underhalls) and copy/paste them inti the blank archive and while you are doing this rename MAP02 to MAP01 Close DOOM2.WAD, save the map with a good name (Underhalls), close Slade3.. Now, depending on your favorite map editor, load Underhalls into Spoiler Slade3 UDB Eurika to start your editing session. Edited May 29, 2023 by Kappes Buur 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

As you may know, a map editor is used to construct the architecture of a map. For original doom format maps you can use several map editors, Wadauthor, Deepsea, DBX, Eureka, Slade3, UDB. For anything from original doom format to UDMF I recommend UDB or Slade3, it just depends on which editor you prefer to use. Slade3 as a lump editor is indispensible when you want to add or replace any lumps, from any type of actor (monsters, weapons, decoratings) to music/sounds or different textures. It is the swiss army knife type of editor. Edited May 30, 2023 by Kappes Buur 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
