Recommended Posts

This is really bugging me, I primarily need to know what they mean by "29:0".

I'm using SLADE3 for my modding if anyone needs to know

Read this old tutorial from Doomworld on inserting custom sprites into vanilla Doom or watch this video by Doomkid:

You may notice that both of these tutorials mention the use of Dehacked, since it can tell the vanilla Doom engine to display custom sprites with completely different sprite-names by replacing string names (via Dehacked). Chocolate Doom runs in the vanilla Doom engine logic so that's why it gave you an error, because of its limitations.

It works because Vanilla Doom actually CAN'T handle loading custom sprites normally! A lot of old mods back in the day would use DeuSF to merge the new assets with the Doom IWAD. That's essentially what -merge does for chocolate-doom.
