(UDMF) Deep + Reflective water?

HQDefault

Question

So I'm trying to make a map with a big ocean setpiece, and I really like having the water in my maps use GZDoom's reflections. But since it's an ocean, I also want to at least give the impression of depth (even if you can't dip your head below the surface).

The main issue is all the ways I know of for creating deep water also make it so I can't add reflections. I know 3D floors can't have reflections, and I tried using sector portals at full opacity, but that didn't work either. If there's a way of doing this, please let me know.

Could possibly have a translucent 3d floor slightly above a reflective flat surface? ~ the 3dfloor could also float/bob.

Unfortunately you can't make any horizontal surface reflective and also part of a 3d floor.

You could try to fake it, my making a 3d floor "inside" the 3d water-floor with the same sky texture on it and making it translcuent.

Of course, the water will only "reflect" the sky, but I think this is your only option here if you also want to see the ocean floor (or make it dark or whatever)
