This is fantastic - It always genuinely bugged me that the demons featured on the Doom Box-Art where oddly absent from the game - very nice work.

I hope you don't mind me asking but how would you feel about others using your Imp replacement in their own Wads? (with Credit of course)

Well, I didn't make those. Actually, to be honest, idk who made 'em. I just found them in a huge ass zip file of DOOM assets someone gave me. I asked the person where they got alot of these assets and they said they found them on Realm667, random wads, random PK3 mods, and the "Share your sprites" sub-thread here on DOOMworld's wad thread. so do some digging there and find out who made 'em, give them credit, not me. I just did threw the assets together and did the dehacked work lol. To save you some time, I can give out those sprites if you need them, idc.

I like that alot of people like the imp sprites, but I'm also not dishonest, I don't want to steal someone's work and pass it off as my own, that's just not right. I just wanna mod because I find it fun and sometimes a dopamine rush when it comes out looking nice.

Always appreciate more Dehacked mods being made! The PSX/64 sounds really add to the aesthetics, and the mix-up of beta and official graphics give the game a pretty fresh coat of paint (I like how there's more blood too)!

Though, since the graphics are apparently compiled from various sources, would it be perhaps more fitting to include generalized credits in the .txt (something like Realm667, Doomworld)? Unless things have changed around here, I think it would be best to include a nudge to the resource authors themselves more directly.

Nice little mod for sure! Works perfectly with my Code Zleek Doom too so that is nice eye candy.

I'm trying to make it as mod compatible as possible.

Thank's DeHackEd is only used for very minor gameplay touch ups. I love the PSX/64 sound and some of the beta material so I thought it would be enough to give the mod a little more identity.

I did say in the .txt that "99%

of resources used go to their respective owners". Implying that someone else might own them, I just don't know who they are... ._.

Both the imp and the caco  were made by me, although the imp was started by TotalTS and the caco arms come from an Amuscaria sprite.

I’ve got a D64 pain elemental sprite sheet somewhere in the Share Your Sprites thread as well, since you mentioned it, but it’s a bit janky.

All of these are free resources anyone can use! I love projects like this, it’s exactly the sort of thing I had in mind when I made them.

Oh cool! Yeah, I LOVE these sprites, really nice work, I agree the Pain Elemental do have some jank, but I tried to work it out, I think they came out just fine. I'll make sure to give you some credit in the next update!

Just been playing this on my Vita (so thanks for the whole 'vanilla compatibility'!) - it's really fun! Gives a fresh coat of paint along with a 'beta' feel as well

really enjoying it so thank you 😊

Thanks! By Vita you mean Playstation Vita? If so then that's both an honor and hilarious XD. I actually want to see some footage of that, if you can that is!

Is it just a graphics and audio mod, or are there actually changes to the enemy behavior?

It doesn't change the enemy behavior but it does increase the firing speed of the Rifle(aka pistol replacer) and Chaingun. Those are the main changes I noticed besides the sprites and sounds overhaul.

The lost soul can be taken out with one standard shotgun blast, and the spider mastermind has more health and a new attack, but that's about it.

I love those demons from boxart. Nice work!

Give your thanks to @ShallowB, they're the ones who polished these up (and generously put all the sprites in a wad file)

Version 1.2 out boys! Tried to make it feel more like Vanilla+'s original inception, hopefully it's more polished! Also, before I forget, I'm always happy to receive feedback on certain things, like features or what you would like to see, all that stuff! I'm always open!

Anyways, enough talk! Here is thine Mod!:

Vanilla+ v1.2

(P.S.: I'm planning on making an updated showcase of the mod, but I would love for someone else to review or showcase it and give their feedback! Just DM me first if you plan on doing so!

So I did a dumb and didn't convert the Non-Nazi textures to .lmps so people not playing in a ZDOOM based port would always have the game crash, Sorry :(

Here's the fixed version:

Vanilla+ v1.2.1.zip

I like the Imp's new look. It is just a shame that the blood color discrepancy was not addressed.

And while I can appreciate using the unused Spider Mastermind attack animation, I find the new attack to be kind of cheap, as unlike the Arch-Vile's summoning attack, there is no tell. If you are going to give the Spider Mastermind an Arch-Vile-inspired ability, why not give it the ability to revive fallen companions? It would certainly make fights with it more interesting.
