doom challenge idea

i have a challenge idea where you do the following:

1. use the "IDFA" code in the start of the campaign

2. use a dehacked patch which prevents you from picking up any ammo, guns, backpacks.

If I'm understanding right, you get one time full ammo/armor/weapons and then have to play with only these resources until the end of the episode or wad?

 

Basically, if the stretches without refills are long, this would be close to Pacifist but with some "emergency ammo". The more ammo you would need to play "normally", it would get closer to Pacifist. Simple example: if you would play only E1M1 this way, you would be extremely overpowered and could get very fast UV-Max times. If playing through the whole E1 episode, it would be already a quite harsh resource-scarcity exercise, and if it's the whole Doom2 IWAD (or even more a megawad full of monsters, like Alien Vendetta and the like) you would basically play Pacifist with ammo for emergencies.

 

Not a bad idea actually. As a "second level", it could be expanded to health: one megasphere and then nothing more.

Not a bad idea, but I think it's more interesting as a gimmick for a specific custom-made map pack than as a "challenge mode". Giving all weapons and ammo at the start of the first map and giving nothing else in the whole mapset except a mandatory megasphere at the start of the next map is straightforward, and the fun would be in how the mapper works with those limitations.
Maybe it would be cool for a community project.
