Jack9955 Posted June 11, 2023 I use windows game bar to record doom videos, but the music won't play, only SFX. Is there a fix for this? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kinsie Posted June 11, 2023 Default MIDI handling in modern versions of Windows is pretty busted, so it’s best to look into software-based solutions with sound fonts. GZDoom and possibly other ports have this built in, but for other ports and games I personally use VirtualMidiSynth and it’s sister tool MidiMapper. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
sukerokushin Posted June 11, 2023 i suspect its for the same reasons i outlined here wrt discord streaming: the game itself isnt producing the sound, its telling windows to synthesize everything. try picking a soundfont with fluidsynth in your sourceport (if that's supported) and see if game bar records it then. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jack9955 Posted June 11, 2023 The problem was VirtualMIDISynth, I uninstalled it and now music works. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Cuz I can't live without SC-55. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

The Windows default soundfont is an SC-55 mixed with other Sound Canvas devices (based upon Roland VSC), just heavily "optimized" to 3MB. MIDIMapper doesn't fix the problem, I used it before. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jack9955 Posted June 11, 2023 @ValveMercenary So no fix for recording doom with custom soundfonts? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Windows is directly given the input rather than the game, so using a software synthesizer works best for recording. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
