Sector light desaturation not displaying when in game

I'm running the latest version of GZDoom. When I adjust the color desaturation in the editor, it looks fine. When I run the game, the colors aren't desaturated. The only display setting that comes close to displaying them properly is Doom software rendering, and setting it to hardware accelerated results in no desaturation at all. Is it possible to have the colors display properly in that display mode?

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. I want to desaturate the color in some sectors more than others, by adjusting the desaturation sector property. When I run the game, every sector's desaturation is at zero.

To test this I made a map such as this

with top sectors done with Desaturation settings with values from 0.0 to 1.0

and the bottom sectors with tags and a script with values from 0 to 255

but, as you mentioned, in GZDoom the desaturation is ignored and just shows uniformly coloured sectors
