I unironically enjoy Terry wads. Of course, they're bad, but at least the people who make these wads have a decent knowledge of ZDoom scripting.

Both of these are well regarded. Hardly guilty pleasures.

That said, the thread's a bit weird. Most of the time, guilty pleasure means something which most people would regard as somehow inferior but you like anyway. The wording makes it seem like the original poster thinks anything not likely to win a cacoaward is somehow a guilty pleasure.

Perdition's Gate, which for some unknown reason was not even in the top 10 wads of 1996, and at the same time there are half of the other works in the list clearly weaker than this megawad. I highly recommend passing it to anyone who hasn't played it yet, even today it feels more than good, especially if you like the first Scythe.

I mean, we can appreciate the sprite worl, is super detailed and very well animated.

It Only Gets Worse

This wad is my favorite jokewad of all time.

For me, VILE FURY and VILE FURY 2. Very blocky and linear maps that won't hold up to much scrutiny these days, or even back when they were released. These were uploaded around the time I got into classic Doom and I must have downloaded them after seeing them in one of the NSC issues around that time. For a beginner Doom player like I was back then, these were simple and easy enough to get some fun out of and there honestly is some crude charm to works even this primitive. The second of these even experimented around with ZDoom features in cute ways, if my memory serves. The exploits that got the author banned are buried somewhere in post hell but I think it was due to him starting shit with other WADmakers a few too many times and aggressively trying to advertise these two WADs all over the forums. There really isn't much of that going on anymore these days. Probably for the better.
