Best theme in both Ultimate Doom and Doom II?

Recommended Posts

I've seen that Doom OST bangs (it totally is and everybody knows that), But in your opinion and for you, What is the best theme of both games? (not counting Final Doom since most of the levels reuse midis of the first two games, like on Plutonia's MAP01 where ''The Imps song'' is reused)

I STILL haven't memorized the track names, but E1M8 for the epic solo, E2M2 for the general creepy atmos, and E3M8 for being straight-up thrash.

Doom II - map04 for sounding like progressive fusion, map06 for being dank, 08 for being bluesy and echoey, and map20 for having another epic solo.

And just about every song on the TNT soundtrack kicks ass except for that crappy map14 one.

E1M8 is Sign of Evil, that's my favorite.

For Doom, I always felt like "Demons on the Prey" was THE Doom theme, the most Doomy of the Doom tracks though "Sign of Evil" is a favourite.  Shout out to "Suspense", "The Demons from Adrian's Pen"  and "Waltz of the Demons"

For Doom2, "The Dave D. Taylor Blues" as a favourite, though I associate "In the Dark" with Doom2 the most.

In Ultimate Doom I think "I sawed the Demons" and "Sinister" are the best tracks, I wish they would've used I sawed the Demons in more maps. Sinister is a track that, if used right, makes the map feel like a survival horror game (that is if the player is about as powerless as a zombieman).

In Doom 2 I am legally obligated to say "Running from Evil", it's a track every mapper knows and it shouldn't surprise me if at this point has been ingrained into the DNA of every mapper here on Doomworld.com. I like Running from Evil, but this could also just be Stockholm syndrome :P

I also love "Waiting for Romero to play", the first time I booted up Map18, I was instantly hit with this peaceful midi. Which isn't exactly what you hear when you think of Doom as a game. That is what this midi even better, and whenever used in custom maps they're automatically a 7/10, sue me.

Funnily enough I have had the exact same thought recently - it's definitely the track I associate with DOOM 1 the most (and one of my favorites, too).

Though my favorite tracks from each game are "Donna to the Rescue" and "Message for the Archvile", respectively - I feel like they both have this distinct, "evil yet funky" vibe to them that Bobby Prince nailed down like no other composer I know of!

For Doom 1 it's definitely "Sign of Evil". It fits the sinister atmosphere of the game so well.
For Doom 2 it's "Into Sandy's City". It's just.... so badass, and intro is AWESOME. It makes you feel like you're descending straight to Hell.

Untitled, Deep into the code and Demons on the prey all go pretty hard for me

Shawns got the shotgun and Into Sandy's city also are absolute bangers in DooM 2.

the three tracks from doom 2 that I couldn't get enough of were Shawn's Got the Shotgun, Into Sandy's City, and The Demon's Dead

now for the twist:

Spoiler

back in the days of computers having sound cards, whatever hardware we had on our PC with Doom (shareware) and Doom 2 just would not support music. So my first introduction to the Doom soundtrack was via the GBA port my mom got from Gamestop:

This shit blew my mind and completely transformed the experience of playing Doom for me.
