EPICALLL Posted July 6, 2023 So, I just came up with this idea a few seconds ago, and immediately felt the need to write about it. So here it is; I wonder, is there perhaps a Status bar Generator that exists? And if not, should there be one? What I mean by this idea is, say for example a wad like Ancient Aliens or Valiant. They have different status bars tailored specifically for that WAD, so I wonder, is there an easier way to make them than just manually drawing them? (I.E. A generator or builder via components of the statusbar that can be swapped out?) I know that something like a generator would probably end up hurting a concept of art from those who use it, but I wonder, is there something like this that exists, and if not, is it worth being made? 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

AIs (the most relevant example) as they stand are massively misused artistic tools. Anyhow, this springs to my mind an idea: taking a bunch of popular status bars together, jam them into an exe file as presets, and then users can choose from those presets, and the exe would pop out a status bar replacement WAD that works with basically anything. There are already mods that do this, but none universal as far as I know. A status bar generator that follows patterns from most popular stuff (what I think your post is suggesting), allowing you to generate bits of status bars ( the ARMOR view is red, the AMMO counter is illegible yellow, etc.) would be cool too. Though I'm not sure if technology is advanced enough for that yet, and we might end up with massively misaligned or goofy HUDs or something. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kinsie Posted July 6, 2023 Here's a Photoshop document I hacked together for a side-project with everything set up, replete with room on the sides for widescreen (crop to 320px width for Vanilla!). Just slip in your texture of choice, replace text as desired, and bingo. Should you not have Photoshop, here's two transparent PNGs to mess with instead. 18 Quote Share this post Link to post
