GZDoom resetting resolution scale to 640 x 400

Recommended Posts

So I usually like to play games in 1280 x 720 because my computer isn't very powerful. Some more complex UDMF maps can cause severe frame drops when I'm playing fullscreen, so I wanted to play in 1280 x 720 so that I could keep my framerate up without having to turn off things like dynamic lighting.

But for some reason, when I do that and exit the game, the next time I open GZDoom, it resets to 640 x 400... which is a 16:10 resolution... and isn't even listed on the resolution presets... What's going on here? Is there a way to get it to stop doing this?

I am experiencing a similar issue with setting my resolution to 1920 x 1080 on a beefy computer. I can't pin down what's causing it. What's worse is that it sometimes works... checking it right now shows that it's set to 1920 x 1061 despite never setting it to that resolution. Usually it's a very low resolution like the one you described. Some days I have to set it to 1080p every startup and some days I don't. It'll change despite never doing anything that would affect it. All I've done is to change this one setting, load and save some levels, and maybe start a new game. There's no discernible pattern.

I'm using Windows 10 Pro with two 1080p monitors. I'm not sure what other information would be useful.

This is a known issue that has been fixed, but there hasn't been a point release of GZDoom with the fix yet.

In the meantime, you could try a dev build from DRD Team.

Yup, seems to work fine in the latest development build. Thanks!
